What are your views on abortion?
I have to write a review on abortion for my nvq at work. I want to hear peoples views on it? What you think is right and wrong? Anyone who has gone through it themselfs? The law on abortion? Etc. Thanks in advance for anyone who posts an answer.
Answers:
First off I know for a fact anyone that doesnt say they are against it will get lots of thumbs down. I am PRO CHOICE. People may say abortion is killing an innocent child but the fact is a fetus is not even considered viable til the 24th week of pregnancy and even at 24 weeks if it was born even with the best medical care it would be profoundly handicapped if it survived. I dont think women should have to carry around a baby and feel it move see it on ultrasound and hear the heart beat if they do not want the child. As for adoption what a great idea but do you have any idea how many millions of children in the US alone are still waiting to be adopted lets not mention world wide. Anyone should have the right to chose if they want to continue with their pregnacy from the 14 yr old that made a huge mistake to the 23 yr old woman who was rapped, had unprotected heat of the moment sex, to the 30 yr old woman who could lose her own life due to medical contions if she proceeded on with the pregnancy.I am in full support of woman ending their pregnancy if tests show the child will be profoundly handicapped and why do I support this because alot of people will grow to resent the child or put it in a nursing home or "care facility" where the child wont be loved and properly cared for.
I should also state before people think I am heartless my daughter who is the love of my life was born just shy of 23 weeks due to an incomplete cervix. She had the best medical care is now 13 yrs old and has the mental ability of an infant. She is my reason for breathing and my everything and because of her I have been exposed to many many children with her same problems that are "thrown away" by their famililes that live in a bed or in a hospital and have no one to love them. She is also terminally ill due to disease progression and although if I could go back and personally change something regarding my pregnancy with her I would NOT but to many of these kids grow up suffering and unloved and no one deserves that. I'd take them all into my home if I could because my daughter lives with me and always will.
So my question to you is why is everyone so against ended an unwanted pregnancy of a fetus that could not live outside the human body if terminated prior to 24 weeks gesation but yet society is FINE with allowing parents of handicapped children to put them into nursing homes, state run facilities, or schools and not having contact with them? Kinda a double standard.
I think everyone should have the right to choose. From the rape victim to the woman with serious medical condition to the 15 year old whos contraception failed to the women who just don't want children. Every woman should have the option in this day and age.
You will get the religious ones who will say only God can kill, but the Bible was written by MAN
I don't think a baby should die because two adults made a mistake. I'm against using it as birth control.
depends on situation/time/consent etc. i am against it but can see logic in lots of arguments
I am utterly against it ... FOR ME and me only. Every person has their reasons for abortion and I will not condem them. I can only speak for myself.
It is a legal murder, Crime.
Unless the infants health nature is bad do not do it . It may spoil your health. A BIRTH IS NATURAL THING LIKE FLOWERING.
I don't think there is a right or a wrong, people have them for all sorts of reasons.
I don't like hearing people preach their views on other people.
I think people should do what is right for them at the time.
As far as the law is concerned, maybe some abortions are allowed to be carried out to long into the preganacy.
Good luck with your nvq!!
Personally I dont think there are any right or wrongs on this subject. I think it has to do with an individuals circumstances at that time in their lives.
There are options which women can choose & sometimes for whatever reasons that may be the best option.
In answer to your question, I believe that a woman can and should have an abortion if she feels it's best for her. I can remember the day when people tried to do self abortions and died. I've seen some very irresponsible raise children, when they couldn't take care of themselves. I found this on the net.

Dear Alice,
I have just found out that I am one week pregnant. My boyfriend and I both agree that it is not the time for this. We do not have the money for an abortion. Is there any way to safely force a miscarriage?
Dear Reader,
Trained, qualified health care providers safely terminate pregnancies since there is no safe way to induce (or force) a miscarriage on your own. Before abortion was legalized in the United States as a choice for women in 1973, millions of women tried "do-it- yourself" methods or visited "back-alley doctors" to end unwanted pregnancies. Thousands died, and many more were permanently injured.
It's important not to let money stand in the way of your health care. Abortion costs vary depending on the setting — clinics, such as Planned Parenthood, tend to be less expensive (some even have sliding scale fees); private hospitals and doctor's offices usually are more expensive. If you are at a university, funds for this type of procedure may also be available. Many private health insurance plans pay for some or all of the expenses. Medicaid covers the cost of abortion in some, but not all, states. The National Network of Abortion Funds provides a listing of community abortion funds throughout the U.S. These funds provide financial aid to help low income women obtain an abortion. Their toll-free hotline is 1.800.772.9100.
First trimester abortions (abortions up to the thirteenth week of pregnancy) typically cost between $300 - 400. Since you are about one week along in your pregnancy, you may also have a choice between a medical/chemical abortion using Mifepristone (formerly known as RU-486) and a surgical abortion. A health care provider will be able to give you additional info (or you can check on your own). As the pregnancy progresses, pregnancy terminations become more expensive and providers more difficult to find, as risks and complications from the procedure also increase.
Pregnant and Undecided in Alice's Sexual Health archive explains how abortions are performed and also gives other related info and options. You can get information on crisis pregnancy counseling in your area through Planned Parenthood at 1.800.230.PLAN (-7526).
Fortunately, women in the U.S. today, even those with low income, have various options and resources available to them.
I don't believe in abortion because, I believe the very second that conception is made you are a person regardless. For we all come from God. We are his creation. I don't feel anyone has the right to take someones life.
abortion is not a form of birthcontrol i beleive if some one was raped or if the baby was severly deformed and stuff like that should it be necessary, other than that oops im seventeen and pregnant well you made you bed now lye in it they can always give it up for adoption.
Prom Queen said all I wanted to say..she is right!
Simple..I believe it's a Sin.
Regardless of how I personally feel about abortion, I am a realist. The fact is we live in a promiscuous society, banning abortions will not change that fact. What it will lead to is scores of young girls getting abortions in back room, unclean clinics leading to sterilization and death.
Abortion is a complicated issue. No, I don't think it is an appropriate form of birth control, however I also don't think I have the right to force my views on another person, despite what my church might say. I have known two women that have admitted to having abortions, both of them felt horrible guilt over it and regretted going through with the procedure. I don't think they tell you about that when you go in for the procedure.
I had an abortion about 9 years ago due to being raped by my ex. Although I made the right decision for me and for the child it is something that I found very traumatic and suffered very bad depression and guilt afterwards and a year after I finally admitted I needed help. I think people that have never been in the situation to have to make such an extremely hard decision do not understand. Don't get me wrong Iam sure there are people that abuse this and think that "oh I don't want to be pregnant I'll just get an abortion" I don't think there is a right or a wrong to this, it really depends on circumstances. I just felt I did not want to bring a child up knowing its father was not only a rapist but a paedophile and not having the life that it deserved. In saying all of this though knowing what it was like I would never have another abortion as it was so awful.
People whom get abortions really don't want to, it's hard to provide for children when the government takes so much from us. These aborted children are in heaven waiting for us.
There are a lot of arguments for and against this one.
Undoubtedly there are situations when the mother must come first. People get understandably very emotionally involved.
Arguments I've heard include:
Is it right to let the woman choose about the life of a foetus when she is at her most vunerable. It should be a medical person?
Woman's rights should come before the life of an unborn baby.
Why should a woman be forced to have a rapists baby?
You should be able to abort handicapped babies.
...and there are more.
People have very strong views on this both ways. It's a very difficult topic to discuss. I have close personal experience and it is very difficult.
I don't believe it should be an option except in cases where the mother's health is at risk. I'm on the fence where rape/incest are concerned. For me, personally, I wouldn't choose to make a bad situation worse by having an abortion in those cases, but I understand the thinking. I am absolutely against using it as a method of birth control. If you're old enough to mess around, you're old enough to deal with the consequences. (This is coming from someone who was there, so I'm not playing "holier than thou".) Adoption is always an option.
Whereas I do believe everyone should have the freedom to decide what they want to do with their lives and if they want a termination, then that should be up to them.none of us should judge unless we know the full facts and even then, who are we to judge just because we may not agree? The only thing I firmly, strongly believe in is that the cut of point for a termination should be lowered.I believe it is still 24 weeks in UK at the moment.well, I had a baby at 24 weeks into my first pregnancy..a little girl, Heather, she lived for exactly a month before she passed away with an infection that poisoned her blood stream.the same week she passed away, a little boy who had been born at 23 weeks gestation went home to his family..that was EIGHTEEN years ago.advancement in medical science means that more and more babies that are born as early as this have the chance of survival.
i think that you should be able to have one.if needed under certain circumstances. If its because "i forgot the pill, or condom split I think they need to be looked at a bit more carefully. its not as if there are not good enough contraception these days. I do not think that they should be allowed an abortion after 10 weeks. I think the timing is more important than the factors or reasons of it. a baby at 24 weeks could survive when born, so why should they be killed when in the womb at this same age, that's the important question
There is not a feeling in the world like seeing or holding a new born. Every tiny tender breath, the sweet smell of innocence, the first smile or clasp of their hand on you, the look of "Please LOVE ME" as I am too little to survive by myself, the first cry that accompanies their first breath on the road to a billion others.
Their shallow breathing that takes your breath away and makes YOUR heart skip a beat in case they are in distress. The power they have of making you laugh and cry, at the same time.
The heartbreak of a woman who can not conceive a child who would give a year of her life in exchange for being a mother for a day.
Life is not fair and to those who HAVE to have an abortion - for whatever reason - then you have my sympathy as making the decision to abort must be as difficult as accepting the decision to love, support and care for this wee thing, for the rest of your life.
i believe that abortion is ok under the right circomstances. if the mother is young.. like 8-14 i think it is right not to have to make the youth have to go through with it. also i believe that teens who are raped should have a choice to get an abortion. people whos health could be thretend by the birth or the baby health could be thretend should also have the option. some people think that if the abortion is before 6 weeks of precnancy, (the point before the baby developes personality and thought) it is not murder, and after 6 weeks it is murder. while im not sure what i believe i think that either way it is killing a soon to be person. yet while i dont think its good, in some cases it could be the right answer. also, in another point of veiw, its tha same as people who put old people to sleep, rather than paying the nursing home to help them, or how its acceptable to some people to discontinue the machines for a person in a coma, who mught have woken up the next day. personally i think it is a matter of opinion. hope this helps!!
Every Abortion is Just..
One more heart that has stopped
Two more eyes that will never see
Two more hands that will never touch
Two more legs that will never run
One more mouth that will never speak.
PLEASE, THINK TWICE !!
it's considered murder in my opion
It is entirely up to the individual what she believes and feels. It is not right or wrong but you must bear in mind that sometimes even the best of contraception taken the most responsible way can fail. Nothing is 100%, even vasectomies have been known to reverse later on and you cannot instruct two consenting audlts (especially if they are husband and wife) to stop having sex in case it results in an unwanted pregnancy. I think if a woman can say that she did everything to avoid pregnancy and still became pregnant and she still doesn't want to carry on with it then she is not wrong to opt for a termination. What is wrong is judging other people for the decisions they make. What about those that take the morning after pill? Isn't that abortion? Or from what stage of the pregnancy does terminating it count as abortion? Some women have the morning after pill quite a few times. So if an abortion pill is invented will that be then considered OK by anti-abortionists? In fact, do they think being on the pill is disgraceful too (since it stops the two cells fusing themselves into a foetus)?
I say, let people make their own decisions in life, I'm sure that in most cases it is not a decision that women make just off the cuff.
I am 32 right now. Back in highschool when I was 18 I was totally against abortion. I was extremely one minded on the subject. I thought the chances of a woman getting pregnant from rape was highly unlikely. I thought even if she did get pregnant that she should atleast carry the baby to term and then give it up for adoption. Until. I was 20 and pregant by my boyfriend at the time.
My point of view changed. I pondered the thought of what I should do. I did have the abortion. I should have had counseling to deal with the emotions that were coming. I had no idea the kind of guilt I was going to carry. I was too ashamed to talk to a professional. I was too ashamed to tell my friends. The only people who knew was the boyfriend and my Dad.
I have dealt with this pain for many years and today I still think about this baby. I think of the age he/she would be today. What kind of child he/she would have been. What he/she would like.
For the longest time I looked at myself as killing an inocent baby that didn't deserve to die. The baby didn't ask to be created. I should have used protection.
Today I still think what I did was wrong and selfish on my part. Personally I could never go through that again. If rape was the issue I am not sure what I would do. I would like to think that I could carry the baby to term and put it up for adoption. I don't believe I could raise a child that was created out of rape, I may possibly take my anger out on the child. I have not been put in a situation like that so it is hard to say.
I do not judge others if they choose abortion as an option, but if I got a chance to say anything I would tell them all the pain (emotionally) that I went through. I wouldn't be trying to talk them out of it but let them know my experience. Nbody talked to me and I had no idea what to expect.
The abortion itself was a horrible feeling. I was awake during the procedure and in the middle of it I wanted to tell them to stop, but it was too late.
The only good that came out of my abortion was a friend of mine years ago got pregnant during her one week split with her husband. She had sex with another guy during the split and did not know who the father was. She was going to have an abortion based on the fact alone. She didn't want to lose her husband. I told her that more than likely he had his fun during the split and talked to her about the pain that I went through. I told her that it was her chose, but she should really think this over before making a quick decision. She kept the baby, and the husband is the father and everything worked out fine for all three of them.
I am very open about my abortion now. Some people think that I am horrible person, but I know that I am not. I made a horrible mistake that I have to live with for the rest of my life.
Again I do not judge others but for me personally, never again will I abort a baby. I would recommend anyone who does this to seek out counseling.
Personally I believe one abortion can be a mistake. More than one abortion is a form of birthcontrol and that is most definitly wrong.
Abortion is a personal choice not for everyone if the individual right is taken away people will find illeagal ways of getting one which could be worse buut there is a lot of girls and women who use this as a form of birth control.
i agree with prom queen
its the woman's body so its her choice. in the end its up to the individual only they can say whats right or wrong for their lives and body!!
I'm against using it as birth control, but its sometimes necessary, personally I'm against abortions.
Abortion is wrong. There are no if ands or buts about it. People who say that it isn't are only trying to make themselves feel guilt free and don't want to admit to themselves that they are commiting a form of murder. NOW, whether or not abortion should or should not be illegal is a totally different issue. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ABORTIONS! And I still say abortion is wrong. I was very young when I began having them. I was also very misinformed. But even then I still believed that I was doing something wrong I never made excuses and I also did not feel any guilt. Today I am older and I recognize that to use abortion as a form of birth control and for individuals to let me be them doctors or staff or family is horrendous. I should have been changing my behavior and actions. I totally believe in God and I know the Bible very well and because I do I know that God will forgive you for ANYTHING because he loves us and he himself is a parent. I know it sounds confusing but not even God takes away our right to sin that's why we have "Free Will". Anyone who is considering having an abortion in my opinion should acknowledge that they are doing something wrong, make there peace with God, and decide if they should make some behaviorial changes in their life before they go ahead and do it. And try like hell never to be in that situation again. I have a wonderul child now. Just one and he changed my whole life for the better. My life has never been this good. And every time I see him smile or he brings home a Good grade or does something crazy to make me throw up from laughing. I think about all the smiles I destroyed just out of fear, laziness and carelessness. Not to mention selfishness. But I still don't carry with me any guilt because I know I have and have had Gods forgiveness from the very beginning. After what I've done he still continues to bless me everyday. The answer is not to denounce God the answer is to understand just how much he really does love us. Abortion is wrong, and yes even if a woman has been raped. That child is still a human being he or she didn't do anything wrong put it up for adoption if you don't want him or don't think you would be able to deal with it emotionally or psychologically but that's still no excuse to kill him. You don't know who he or she might grow up to be. Just because his father was a rapist how many of us were born to loser dads, criminal dads, child molesters and our mothers weren't raped. At any rate, abortion is not the end of the world or the worst thing a woman could do. None of us killed Jesus (and even they were still forgiven). Also all those fears I had or "reasons" not to have a child I realized were either totally unreal or not good reasons anyway. I still didn't have any money when I had my child, I was still unmarried, I still didn't want any children and everything still turned out not only just fine but for the best. Last, to any young woman out there who may be reading this. God is real don't let people who just want to lead their lives doing what they want to do which is usually something bad or wrong tell you that he's not. I live a great happy and fun life and I have God in it. The way I figure it I would rather believe in God and find out I was wrong after I died than not believe and find out I was wrong.
i share peanuts opinions
Is there a service in London which can baby-proof one's flat?
