Can my friend get her tubes tied she is 19 and never had a child?
she is looking for a doctor who will do it ........she wants to adopt not give birth to a child
Answers:
Good for your friend. This planet needs another human like a drowning man needs a glass of water.
I tried to get a vasectomy when i wa 22, but couldnt find a doctor to do it. I bet your friend will have better luck though.
I finally got a vasectomy, by the way. It was the single smartest thing I ever did. :-)
Unlikely - she may so easily change her mind. Most doctors wouldn't risk that.
It is possible but will be very hard to do. I have one child and one on the way and both have been with severe complications and I still have to have my husband sign a consent.
usually they will not tie them unless you have 2 kids or are a certian age. I had mine tied and almost 3 years later I ended up preg again.
the best thing to do is just take birth control and use condoms. dont just to tubes being tied.in the future she may regret it. and im not too sure if she could do that. may have to ask a doctor
No way they will say she is too young ..... I have been trying for about 5 years and I'm not even in my mid 30s yet!
Probably not, And why would someone at such a YOUNG age, Even consider doing that?! Adoption is a wonderful thing, But who knows, She might turn 30 and be married to the love of her life, Whom wants children of his own.
I know in the state of Indiana- You have to be at least 21, With 3 children before they will even consider tying your tubes, I would imagine that other states have similar 'rules'.
I don't know about where she lives, but in KY you have to be at least 21. If you are under 21 then you have to already have 2 kids. A dr. usually don't want to take that chance because she is so young and may change her mind later.
Its very hard for someone at a young age to get their tubes tied. Most states require you have at least 2 kids ( one of each sex at least), AND be over the age of 25.however.this doesnt mean she cant find a doctor who will do it. she might have to see a few different doctors and plead her case of exactly WHY she is wanting the procedure done. Also I would tell your friend she is only 19, and people do change their minds easily around that age so she might change her mind when she gets older and to reverse the surgery is tough. so she needs to get some counseling and info sessions on whether this is exactly the best choice for her at this time.
Doctors wont do it because she's too young. So many people who do not want chilkdren for various reasons, are finding their way blocked on this. Doctors feel that a woman is not capable of making this decision untill shes over 30 or had at least 2 children.
Tell her to start looking into an IUD * mirena not the other kinds* this lasts for 5 years and has a fantastic succsess rate * i have used mirena for 5 years i dont want any more children , and docs refuse to tie my tubes untill i have at least one more*
most docters will not do this unless you are at least 25 and have a child already.
I would just suggest that she use birth control, and wait untill she is married to get her tubes tied.
well it would propley be a bad choice
why would she want something so pernement. she is only 19 years of age. she could change her mind in 10 years time that she would love a child of her own. she can get something that will stop her getting pregnant but at least she will have the choice later on to have one of her own. if in a few years she still feels the same then she should hae no problem in getting it dont however at this young age i really can not see any doctor performing it
That is a bit extreme. What if she changed her mind later in life. Then what?
She is only 19. I'm almost twice that age, and I recall not ever wanting to have children, and I felt so strongly about it.
Well, how many years later, I have three children. When I had my first, I wasn't sure I could be a loving and caring mother as every child deserves. But it comes nauturally (for most), the love you feel isn't like any other. It just can't be explained.
Even if she was going to tie her tubes, then let her wait until she is 25.
There are other ways of not getting pregnant
very much doubt she'll find a surgeon what will do it, she is far too young!...and if she doe's she'll probably have to pay for it, and it will be costly..try going private!
unless there is a medical condition i would have thought she would find it very difficult to find a doctor that would help her here - almost impossible
Laws vary from state to state. In Texas you have to be over 25. My cousin almost died in childbirth and she asked to get her tubes tied and they wouldnt let her until she turns 25. Crazy but true. But even if she did that, she may regret it later on in life Even if she is wanting to adopt. Does she realize to what adopting a child takes. Its a long long process and very expensive. More so than having a baby. I can cost up to 30000 or more for each child. I guess she will learn about that stuff later. But for now she should just leave all alone until she is a little older. Peoples minds change all of the time.
if she has a specific genuine medical reason it may be possible, even neccessary, if it is a matter of CHOICE she will have to visit a back street dr that is as likely to kill her as a result of not really bieng a dr and just someone with a fake certificate saying they are (i can print out a certificate saying im a DR it doesn't mean im qualified) she doesn't need her tubes tied to adopt, she just doesn't have to have sex to get pregnant naturally - if she isn't having sex she won't get pregnant it is as simple as that, any quack agreeing to unneccessary medical procedures should not be trusted!, also having her tubes tied is a reason for adoption agencies to refuse to place a child with her as she is showing that she doesn't want children (it may be she doesn't want childbirth but thats not how a child protection agency will see it) she is showing she would be an unsafe option as a parent especially for an infant
Shes only 19 why would she want to get it done?
Theirs the contraceptive device called the Marina which acts like a sterilisation for 5 years but doesn't protect against STI, meant to be brill for periods aswell.

I don't think so..it is 25 or 2 children here in SC. If you are under 25 or only have 1 child, you have to get your husband's permission! WTF is up with that? But no I don't think she can.
I doubt any doctor would do it. Why doesn't she just get on birth control then? I had a friend who had a hysterectomy when she was in her low 20's (she didn't have kids). They did it for her though because she's disabled and couldn't take care of a kid.
At 19 she would have to have a serious MEDICAL problem for any Doctor to Even Consider it! They dont operate to order and If you found a Private Doctor Willing to Do it at a hefty Price, I'd suggest researching his CREDENTIALS first!
Not wanting to Give birth isnt a very good reason and a totally selfish one!
What is she SO SCARED OF! If She wants a child what could be BETTER than her own and for every baby NEEDING adoption there are a Hundred or so ahead of her on an Agency List. People who through no fault of their own cant have children WILL and SHOULD get priority!
the doctors will suggest something reversible like the coil or something because she doesnt have a medical condition stating that she cant give birth! and shes a little young, also tell your friend that giving birth is one of the most amazing things that will ever happen in her life, does she still want to pass that opportunity?
it is not likely that she will find a doctor to do something like that due to her age and NO kids. Most doctors at least want you to have 1-2 kids and that yet STILL depends on her age. BEST WISHES
I think if she is having trouble finding a dr to do it, that should be a slight indication to the answer. I think it also depends on insurance and factors like that. I'm sure lots of people told her that she is too young to make such a decision. On one hand, if you are old enough to decide to have kids, why are you not old enough to decide you dont want kids. But if you look at all outcomes, it may change your mind. How do you know how your life will change in the next year, or ten years? I know so many people who, as young adults, always said they didnt want kids, but they changed their mind, and are now happier than ever that they had the chance to expierience pregnancy. Also, How does she know that she will even be able to adopt, it's great to say that you want to adopt and help the children who need families. But I researched adoption quite a bit because I could not concieve for over 5 years. What I found was that it is hard to be accepted as a possible adoptive parent, and so many people get their hopes up only to be dissapointed for years over and over when the paperwork doesnt go through, or they didnt make enough money four years ago.
Birth control is a good option. A lot easier to reverse than a tubal ligation if she changes her mind a year from now, ten years from now.
i dont think there is many doctors out dare who wud do dat.and wat happens down the line if she gets it done meets some one gets marrried and she cant have children of her own that wud not be very nice i think u should just tell her to hang on for a while and use a contraceptive she could still change her mind or at least get her to change her mind she is 2 young she could regret it in yrs to comr
I dont think so.The doctors wont do it unless you have a medical reason, or if you have had kids or if you are passed a certain age.
I don't think they will let her unless there is a medical problem and it is necessary. and i'm not sure but i think that if you have not had a child yet you also can not have your tubes tied.
I don't think any medic would allow her to, without getting into why and councelling her first. I guess if there is medical reason why she wants it done that will be a plus to her call for sterilisation.
Women are prone to changing minds, and sterilisation is a *final* for women.
They will say she is too young probably. SHe can get the Coil, which lasts for 5 years..
very unlikely as doctors say you might change ur mind later .. and can be risky with no guarantee of not gettin pregnant
sorry but she can not get her tube tied
