Does anyone have any suggestions on activities suitable for 2-3yr olds?
I have an interview in a nursery and have to carry out an activity with 2-3yr olds as part of my assessment any suggestions would be gratefully received!

walk in the park, collect leaves and take them back to nursery to paint

how about some kind of sport activitie like T-ball or soccer.. or something like Gym class
funger painting, marble painting, play dough,the kids will love it. Also popular collage, they love glueing, but have no scissor control, so pre=preare,or allow tearing of materials. all the best.

games like ring a ring a roses or head, shoulds knees and toes.
story time - something noisy they can join in.
finger painting goes down well . Playing in water, a large bowl will do with cups and a teapot, little ones love water play. Sand is another good one. good luck.

I'm a playworker I work with kids four and a half to fourteen,.there are loads of books and websites on this sort of thing..how about finger painting or potato printing,singing action like songs like"the farmers in his den" or "head shoulders knees and toes",cooking activity like icing biscuits,read them a story or use puppets in the story,make play dough,games like sleeping lions,cut out pictures out of magazines for them to stick onto paper,colouring,with older children you could have some pictures of positive images and have a discussion about them,..i hope these are any use to you and good luck in your interveiw.
themes. my son's daycare did circus, eric carle's books (brown bear), ocean, dinosaurs, outer space just to name a few
potato prints are good cos they can have fun getting messy and at the same time you are talking to them about the colours, shapes and counting the number of prints so its educational too.

sports aren't very good because there's rules they have to follow and it's harder for them (I read that in another answer)
go to the library there are loads of books on this subjects.
note that little boys are more responsive to physical action games as their fine motor skills develop later than girls.
a girl can cope with finer detailed game such as bead threading colouring etc but dont even bother keeping a boys attention i can guarantee awol. dont forget to mention this during your assessment they will be very impressed. you could say something like,"during my observations i noticed that boys of this age preferd action games and physical activites rather than girls as their fine motor skills develop earlier" .
Give them tamborines, kazoos, flutes, drums, etc. and let them play a song.

supplies: 2 long papertowl tubes
2 rectangle klenex boxes, empty of course
a hand full of rubbebands
scissors..you should only use them
and tape.
first ..take the klenex box and cut a circle on one of the shorter sides about the size of the papertube
next put the paper tube in the hole you just cut. secure it by putting tape around it so it wont move. next put rubberband around the klenex box going the long way..2 or 3 should work. then tape down the rubberbands so they dont fly off. now they have their own musical intrument
Icing rich tea biscuits, I did that for an assessment for my NVQ. make the icing with the children with icing sugar and water and add colouring and then put on the biscuits. get hundreds and thousands to sprinkle over the top. They love doing that, it's a nice simple cooking session.
Kids at that age love bubbles.
Use bubbles to teach up and down.....
use a catchy song to teach movements..jump, skip, hop, etc.
song to teach body parts: head shoulder knees and toes..have them draw a picture of themselves with all of those body parts
I am going to cheat and say 'all of the above' but my personal best advice to you is be yourself, remember to use open and welcoming body language (including being smiley when appropriate) and listen attentively to what the children want to say to you. I wish you all the best, the very fact you are researching the task does you credit!
You should let them get creative and let their artistic side come out.This way they can do thier own thing and its not right nor wrong

Kids love water. How about making a boat out of an old majerine tub with the kid and playing together on some water.
As a former preschool teacher and director, I would suggest choosing an activity for your assesment that isn't too complicated or messy. You can save those things for after you get the job! You want your assesment activity to go smoothly and things like finger painting or cooking have the potential for unforeseen messes and quirks that your new bosses might find unimpressive. Chances are they are looking to see how well you interact with kids more than they want to acess your creativity. If you do something too complicated their short attention spans will make you look bad!
You could read a story.tell a story with a puppet.sing songs with hand motions.or bring a tape with kids songs on it and play freeze dancing (they dance until the music stops and then they have to freeze until it starts again.If you do a craft, keep it very simple.glue one or two things and then let them color it.
The biggest thing is keep it simple!
