i work with a woman who is pregnant, will mehaving shingles harm her baby?

Answers:
You are contagious! Stay home!

There is no known way to prevent shingles. Anyone who has had chickenpox may get shingles later in life. However, you can avoid getting the virus that causes both chickenpox and later shingles by receiving the varicella vaccine currently recommended for preventing chickenpox. It is possible that the varicella vaccine may boost immunity to shingles in those who have had chickenpox as children or adults who have had shingles before. Studies of older adults and the prevention of shingles with this vaccine continue. 9

If you have never had chickenpox, avoid contact with people who have shingles or chickenpox. Fluid from shingles blisters is contagious, and exposure to it can cause chickenpox (but not shingles) in people who have never had chickenpox.

If you develop shingles, avoid close contact with people until after the rash blisters heal. It is especially important to avoid contact with people who are at special risk from chickenpox or shingles, such as:

Pregnant women, infants, children, or anyone who has never had chickenpox.
Anyone who is currently ill.
Anyone with a weak immune system who is unable to fight infection (such as someone with HIV infection or diabetes).
One study reports that the virus that causes shingles may be released into the air from shingles sores. If you have active shingles, you may be able to prevent spreading the disease by covering the shingles sores with a type of dressing that absorbs fluids and protects the sore (hydrocolloid dressing, such as DuoDerm). 4
Don't go in until you are no longer contagious. I don't think catching shingles will do the baby any favours.
No its not safe to go into work. Stay at home until it has gone.
I think you're supposed to stay away from pregnant women and newborn babies
if she has had chicken pox whe will be fine.

don't go around children not exposed to chicken pox.

Shilgles can cause chicken pox but the children have to touch the area affected and you can't give shingles to others.
what sort of person asks that question here! Go and see a doctor, and ask their opinion since they are qualified and will positively know what to do, and if there is a problem with your colleagues baby then you know that you have done the right thing! Please think before you do something more stupid than you already have done!
If you work for me, please take the day off.
no
If you have shingles you should not be going in to work even if there are no PG women there! You are contagious! Get a note from your doctor and stay home!
Dont go out. My grandma is recovering from it and also my cousin. My grandma got it on her leg and under a foot which is VERY VERY RARE! Shes hasnt gone out in a month and a half and also it was hard for her to walk. If you are oosing and someone comes in contact with that ooze, they will indeed catch it. your best bet is to stay at home and stay away from people.
no you are contagious while you have the rash.
im not a doctor but when i was pregnant with my second son i caught chicken pox as my two year old son had it. u should have seen all the visitors i had ie midwives, nurses drs etc., they were quite worried cos i could see it in their faces. i was about 7 months pregnant and they said to me - their words - that its more dangerous to catch chicken pox in the later months than the earlier months. i dont know why but thats what they said to me. on another note there have been loads of people at my work who have had shingles as it was contagious.dont go to work its not worth it and the poor woman will be so stressed if u do.
