How soon can I return to work after having a baby?
Answers:
I would discuss it with my doctor/midwife. They will most likely tell you 6 weeks! That is their magical answer (been through 3 pregnancies/ births)
I would say wait at least 4, you will need some "down time" even if you don't "feel" physically tired or hurt. It is a good time to just relax and bond with the baby.
Congratulations on being self employed and able to work out of home! This is a dream of many women with young children.
Take it as it comes and see how you feel.
As soon as you feel you can.
I had 4 c-sections and by the time I had my last I was back up and at in in two weeks! It really depends on you. Listen to your body.
the only person to answer that is your self every ones knows when it feels like its the right time, if u feel ready go for it as u said the baby isnt going to be far away best of luck
As soon as you feel well enough - you should still be able to claim SMP even if you are self employed (as long as you have paid the minimum NI contributions)
You'll be shattered for the first few weeks though so I'd play it by ear
Good Luck with your new baby xx
It does depend on you.
If you have natural, sometimes it's a little faster (but if you "tear" it can take longer than C-section.)
You will be pretty wiped, but if you can start by doing 1/2 days after a few weeks, you can judge better. (try that instead of full days to see how you are doing.)
about 45 minutes should be ample rest time
Whenever you feel like it. The pioneers didn't have the chance to sit around after giving birth. They had to get right back to it!
usually after a couple of weeks, but I would check with your Dr. first; since you will be on your feet alot.
As soon as you feel like it, but check with your doctor first!
If your self employed and your mum is helping. You can go back to work as soon as you feel up to it. Most other job it like 6-8 week until you can go back to work.
As soon as you feel that you are able to work.
well if you had a c section then give yourself time to heal.. go back when doc says it is ok...if you have(or had) the baby naturally then when ever you feel like you can handle it.. but just remember to let yourself heal. Your body just went through a pretty big ordeal and it is not cool to rush back to work.. Just have fun with your baby until you return to work.. Infants can be great and a lot of fun just get enough sleep or as much as you can. Oh by they way Congrats to you and your new member of the household
You should really give yourself 6 weeks to heal. If you go back sooner than that, don't do full days as being on your feet that long won't be good for you..could make it take longer for you to stop bleeding. Maybe a couple of hours a day at first if you go back sooner.
you know that you are lucky in your situation-having baby and help nearby
but take it from a professional nanny, nursery teacher and mum of 3 and 1 year old-
your energy and concentration are not the same for ages...
be careful about easing yourself in a client here and there one week, following week maybe 4-5,and so on
you have not got any idea how tiring birth, recovery, and baby-care is so be kind to yourself, good nutrition, sleep when baby sleeps, understanding clients will wait for you til you are ready.
enjoy your baby
x
good luck
i would say give yourself at least 6 weeks, and listen to your body as there's nothing like the tiredness after dong nightfeeds to make you feel like crap..and even when you do return take it easy
After you stop bleeding, you should be able to. If you're doing too much, you'll start bleeding again. You'll be pretty tired for the first few months, but you'll also be pretty bored after 2 or 3 weeks of staying home.
legally 2 weeks but i would recomend that you take as long as you can afford too. Pregnancy, birth and being a new mum is hard work both physicaly and emotionaly and you need to rest and bond with the baby as much as possable at this time. If your not entitled to SMP you could be entitled to maternity allowance which is the same amount as SMP (about £100 a week) and for the same time period (6 months). you can find out more info at the following site

Hope this helps. Enjoy your new little one

when ever u feel redi hun coz every1 is different i wud say about 1 month but it depend ion uir job and how much u can rely on ur mum wiv the baby gd luck xxx
Only you will know when the time is right, sweetie.
I think the UK law says 2 weeks, and your midwife would advise 6 weeks. Other than that, when you are feeling able, which will depend on your delivery, recovery, how settled baby is, how much sleep you are getting, how you are feeding him/her.
Good luck, whatever you decide!
