2 Year Old with quirky habit?

My daughter is 2 but even since the day she was born she has had this habit of lifting her legs up and down and tensing them for minutes at a time. I thought she had colic but health visitor said it wasnt and she would grow out of it. It doesnt bother her and she carries on as normal. I then thought she did it when she was tired and I thought it was like a comfort thing for her but I just don't know.
Does anyone have a baby who does anything similar.

Answers:
If she had colic "you'd know, lol" she'd be crying and fidgeting. She's just doing a little "rote" item that makes her feel comfortable. Even at that age, they practice things over and over to "feel good." This is why they repeat certain vowel sounds like "da, da" and "ma, ma" because with practice comes perfection. Also, with the more vowel sounds they can make, the better their language skills are, same for their "motor skills" which is what she is excercising.

However, if she starts to have "problems" with this while sleeping, she could have a sign of RLS or "restless leg syndrom" which many people suffer from. Signs include tingling legs, feeling something crawling on them when theres nothing there and a knot in them that isn't there, all requiring you STRETCH your legs, often waking you up in the night. However, I have no idea about this in Infants, sorry.

As I said, most likely she is just "exercising" and enjoying the stretching. Good luck!
maybe she's excercising do you have the tv on alot she might be imitating something she sees often.
I don't know!
I've never heard of it. sounds like a thing is wrong. Follow your instinct. it is looks wrong - go get it checked out.
I do believe it's just a comfort thing, my daughter holds her arm straight in the air as she is falling asleep, no reason why she does it, but she alsways has... who knows, but at 6 she isn't any worse for ware, so I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm not sure- but toddler behaviors can look mighty bizarre. What about asking your doctor about this?
my Daughter is seven and has loads of quirky habits she sits watching tv bending her toes up and down she kinda clicks them its weird she is double jointed and this is her content.
It probably isn't causing your daughter harm and if she continues to do when she is older at least u can then ask.
I would not worry about it if her bowels are working fine if she is walking fine she is just a special little girl my litle sister used to walk run whatever on her tippy toes she is now 80 and she is still on her tiptoes and she is a special little lady give her lots of hugs and watch for any problems she might have in growth but I think God has just given you a special little girl .
I have always been around babies and I have never heard of this except for when a baby is having a tantrum.. If she doen't stop soon, find a specialist.
Don't be too concerned about this. I've know this to be quite normal. However, please be sure to voice your concern with your G.P if it worries you

Toddlers have strange habits. It doesnt sound as if anything is wrong its just a phase and she will grow out of it.

I When I was little I used to fall asleep with my arms stretched staright up and 33 yrs later I occassionally still do this. I have no problems(although my husband would disagree!)
My mother has said that when I was a toddler I used to lie in bed with my arm tense and in the air, I can't remember this at all and was frankly shocked to hear it. But my mother just laughed she had 5 other children and said it was probably a wee quirk for comfort and I stopped doing it eventually. I am now 36 and I can report there has been no lasting mental damage (I hope)!!
