Would antihistimine tablets give a Faulse Positive result on a pregnancy test ?
or could you please tell me what medication would affect my pregnancy test , with a faulse positive?
Answers:
The only way you can get a false positive is if you are taking drugs containing the Human Pregnancy Hormone. These are often found in drugs taken before/during IVF treatment but are very rare in other medicines. There are no examples of antihistimines causing a false positive, they do not contain any hormaones at all, let alone pregnancy hormone. If you have had a positive you are pregnant.
No medication that i can think of although a diuretic such as frusemide might give a false negative by diluting the hormone, human chorianic gonadotrophin, that the tests detect
no . a positive is a POSITIVE ..
Q: Do any drugs or medications affect the test?
A: Only medications containing the pregnancy hormone (hCG) can affect the result (e.g A.P.L1, Pregnyl2 , Profasi 4 and Pergonal 4 ). The test should not be affected by hormone therapies containing Clomiphene citrate (e.g. Clomid 3 , and Serophene 5 ), alcohol, painkillers, antibiotics, or the contraceptive pill.
Congratulations!
Medication (pain relievers, antibiotics, etc.)
will neither delay a positive result, nor cause a false positive result, unless the medication contains hormone "human chorionic gonadotropin" or hCG. Some examples of hCG containing drugs are Profasi, Pregnyl, and Novarel. Only the presence of HCG could give a positive pregnancy result.
You can't really get a false positive, however you can get a false negative. The hormone is either there or it's not.
Congratulations! :o)
