How less painful is it if you have the gas n air and pathedine in labor?
Answers:
trust me ITS NOT LESS PAINFULL AT ALL
It less painful with pethidine but still hurts like hell and makes you feel sick - go for an epidural! scary thought have a needle in your spine but you won't feel a thing!
less pain full than what natural /
I still had pain with gas and air so god knows what natural is like although alot of women swear by epidural
Gas and air took the edge off my pains in early labour. I had pethidine but hated it - didnt ease the pain, just makes you feel really, really drunk and really sleepy. I wont be going for pethedine this time - I will stick with just gas and air.
Doesn't matter what you take, it's going to hurt, but with the gas and air you won't care so much.
It takes the edge off the pain. I wouldn't have the epidural . that was my choice though .
a little bit but it makes you feel like your drunk its much better than an epidural though feeling the pain of birth is as much of the process as conceiving and bringing the baby up
Go for the epidural. I don't think pain "adds" to the experience of childbirth.
I had just gas and air cos didn't want anything else and it hurts like F U C K! But that is child birth for u! Only way to completely block it out is an epidural but I personally didn't want to go for that. Only thing u want to watch on the old gas and air is how much u have and when u start having it. With my eldest, I started pretty heavy on it from about 2cms dilated cos didn't know wot to expect so by 10cm, it wasn't quite hitting the spot anymore! I'd also had so much (2 cannisters in 6 hours) that I was totally off my head and can't remember much of the birth except throwing up everywhere afterwards. With my second she was only 2 hours and I made it through til 8cm before having any and it really helped and wasn't that painful and I was really with it this time.
Wotever u choose is totally up to u, depends how u feel about pain. It is total agony but once u have baby in u're arms u forget the pain and u can go home asap u realize how worth it a natural birth is.
Good luck

on my boyfriends computer,i had gas and air with both of my children and i dont think it makes it less painfull but it does help you relax and you can focus more on what you are doing, but if you are thinking of having it just try you havent got to have loads and can stop when you want.one thing i will say is i was sick after giving birth both times which i think was from the amount of gas and air but it does no harm
My wife said that gas and air made no bloody difference at all (but I quite liked it) and pethadine really pissed her off because it didn't take the pain away at all during the contractions but made her really dozy and drunk between them.
To give an indication, she proposed repeatedly to the guy who finally gave her an epidural!
I went with the gas and air and pethadine which helped a lot but also made me sick. I would never have an epidural ive heard lots of horror stories and i dont like the idea of a needle in my spine just in case something went wrong.
I had gas and air and pethadine with my first child, and i thought the pethadine was awful. It made me sleepy and i fell asleep in between contractions, so all i remembered was the pain. With my second child i only had gas and air and i felt the labour was much better. Every labour is different though. This is something you could talk through with your midwife or doctor. A birthing plan may be a good idea.
i would nt really know, i had both in both my labours, and i reckon if i did nt i probably would have had only 1 child. lol hehe
Gas and air is fab stuff, I used it with my 1st all way through the labour the hole 12 hours.
Never used pethidine.
Well I have had two epidurals and for my third I had gas and air and morphine. I prefered the epidurals. The gas and air I didnt feel helped and the morphine only dulled the contractions for a short time. It hurt like hell. I had a mobile epidural and was pain free but still had some sensation.
gas and air and pethidine dont really take away pain. They sort of alter your state of mind really! You feel drunk and out of it. Its such a strange feeling. Definately better with them than without though.
my first child i had just gas and air (no pethidene though), and i kept falling asleep through labour, having gas and air also gave me something to bite down on (dunno why but it helped)
my second child i had nothing and oh my god never again!!
if i have another child im definately not going cold turkey, BRING ON THE GAS AND AIR! Its a god send!!
It varies from person to person, but neither gas and air or pethadine really take the pain away, they just make you care a whole lot less that it is hurting.
i had gas n air n pethadine in both my labours and all though it still slightly hurt i liked feeling the pain as each contraction was a step closer to seeing my baby. it was a pain i could just handle
had pathedine with my first and did not like it made me feel light headed dizzy sick and not in control of what was going on but gas and air with my second baby was wonderfull did not take the pain away fully but really took the edge of it
I had gas and air and i felt no pain. The trick is not to start breathing it in when the contraction starts but to breathe in all the time. When she was born i had to ask my husband how long i had been there. The best thing is you can move about as soon as you have given birth to have a bath and you dont feel groogy .
i have had both as an air and pethadine on different pregnancys,i founld gas n air didnt work at all altou some people say it makes them laugh, pethadine did help me to relaxe more and i feel my children were born sooner because i was relaxed more however it did make me quite sick an unable to work becaue i was dizzy for a few hours havin pain relife does help the trouble is you have to disided wich is right for you good luck.
i don't think the gas even works all it does it helps u concentrate more on ur breathing than anything else, i had an epruidual which by the major 3rd part of labor it ran out and as i was pushing my baby got stuck so they gave me the gas and it still hurt like hell.
very less
