Has anyone been incorrectly stitched after giving birth? (sorry!)?
Its happened to me, am waiting for op to repair :-(
Answers:
Yes! I was cut and tore, and they wouldn't tell me how many stitches. That was nearly 4 months ago, and things are still not right. I spent 7 weeks on various antibiotics, and although the wound has healed, things are definitely wonky down there, and very uncomfortable. I'm waiting to be seen by the gynae dept in 6 weeks, but my GP (who's face told me everything I didn't want to know) did advise that they might want to give me a general and do it all again.
This apparently not uncommon, as everything is swollen and bruised when they try to put you back together.
I hope all goes well with your op, and that you'll be able to see a definate improvement
My mum-in-law said they made a right mess of her downstairs after giving birth though I obviously don't know the full details of exactly what she meant! But it certainly wasn't like it should have been.
Luckily no. I had 96 stitches after a vaginal birth and for sometime thought that things were sewn back together wrong. Luckily after time, the swelling went down and I realized all was well.
Good luck!
I sort of have that problem. I tore from one to the other and there was a lot of repair to be done. The doctor used those stitches that are supposed to disolve right. Well, one stitch did NOT disolve so now I have one still (downstairs as another answerer said) lol
I Think my wife had it sewn shut not had sex since lol
Same as tiffany. was meant to dissolve but one did not and stuck out. was like being stuck with a needle everytime I moved.
Also I had a lot of scar tissue that needed to be removed. I think they called it a fenton's procedure.
Fairly simple tho. In and out of hospital the same day. Just a bit sensitive after.
YES! with my second child i tore VERY badly (my labors are very quick). i didn't get a surgery to repair it because my doctor insisted that everything was fine. it took about one and a half YEARS for the vaginal opening to stretch enough to where it was not painful. thank GOD the stitching was correct after my 3rd and 4th pregnancies. i'm glad to hear that you are having the surgery to repair the incorrect stitching, that is the BEST bet with this problem!
I wouldnt say incorrectly stitched but the anasthetic didnlt work so I felt everything - I thought I was gonna die..and took ages to heal as well.
I also needed stitches for my second child but insisted that I should have an epidural directly after the birth. They took me to theatre to stitch me up and I didnt feel a thing..wonderful and I healed up really quickly so was able to enjoy the baby.
Don't let it put you off having any more..you soon forget the trauma!
I had my daughter by c-section. This was four years ago. A couple of years ago, my husband noticed that i had hair folicle sticking out of my tummy - he got the tweesers out and pulled 4 of them out!
We have to check this every few months now - I am in a little discomfort, not much! My scar is uneven and not very pretty - but when I look at my daughter - I would do it all again - ungly scar and all!
I HAD NO STITCHED AFTER MY KIDS BUT GOOD LUCK HOPE ALL GOES WELL
Well i was a bit drugged at the time but i heard the midwife who was bye the way learning say to the other is that right where does that bit go. Just what i wanted to hear i think its alright though feels different in a way down there
I has stitches it was the worst birth i thought i was going to die i used salty water to bathe them in and i healed up by the 3rd week.
I think my midwife did a pretty good job at sewing me up, although is still sensitive when hubby and I 'do the business down south' :))
It's been 5 months since birth. I know somebody who gave birth 12 years ago, completely tore, and only now is she having the repair work done.
I had it with my first child, luckily it was only a small piece. With my 2nd I had the same tear again and let it heal by itself, so with my 3rd. The healing by itself worked much better than the stitches. I have since started wondering why they always give you stitches, even though most of the time its not necessary at all.
What if i die while giving the birth?
