i am 41 weeks and 2 days pregnant and when i woke
up today to go to the loo there was a trickle of fluid down my thing coming from my vagina. im unsure if this was my water breaking or the normal discharge. also does a 'show' always have to be 'bloody' or can it it be like clear jelly and last over a few days? cos i havn;t had a bloody show yet and am due to induced tomorrow! i have has what i think were contractions last night, but they stopped and i slept thru the night.. what should i do? im so nervous about being artifically induced tomorrow.

Don't ask for help hun get ur self to the hospital !!! .they can tell u if ur water broke or not. maybe you just couldn't hold your bladder and peed.but get to the emergancey room .now
Call your doctor. I had a slow leak and then all of a sudden my water BROKE and gushed everywhere.
Yeah, a leak is good enough sign.
It could be your water, and it could just be urine. With the baby laying heavily on your bladder now, it tends to leak. Call your Dr. as soon as possible. Also, being induced isn't all that bad. You can get meds to help with the pain. I've had two out of three induced.
If you strongly think it's your water that broke, have it checked out. After 24 hours, you risk a dry birth and you do NOT want that! I've heard it is horribly painful.
your water breaking feels like you're wetting yourself, but you can't stop it.
Call your doctor..NOW! Always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to that.
WELL IT HAPPENS IN DIFFRENT WAYS IN DIFFRENT PEOPLE SOME HAVE A GUSH OF WATER AND BLOOD SOME MAY HAVE A SMALL LEAK SOME CAN DRAIN LIKE YOU PEEING ON YOURSELF OKAY WHAT ARE YOU GOING THROUGH AND HAVE YOU LOST YOUR PLUG IT IS A WHITE STRINGY MATTER THAT USUALLY COMES OUT A FEW DAYS BEFORE BREAKAGE AND IF YOUR ARE HAVING ANY LEAKING OTHER THEN YOUR NORMAL DISCHARGE CALL YOUR OB.
GET YOURSELF TO A HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW!
It's so much better to be safe rather than sorry, or would you like to loose the baby totally?
I as well would say get to the hospital, dry births can kill you and your baby. They are bad. A leak is a pretty good sign and as far as you are they may just go ahead and keep you if you are to there tomorrow anyways.
Good Luck and congrats on your lil one!
Go to the hospital. They will be able to tell you if your water had broke or not. They will also be able to check if you are having contractions and if you are dilating.
Sometime I could tell because the odor was like an antibiotic smell, and the fluid is clear to white, may have some gooey feeling to it when you touch it.
GET YOUR @$$ IN GEAR AND GO TO THE E.R. NOW.
GO NOW ! Get to the nerest Hospital..waiting can be really bad.
Don't be nervous. Just relax normally when your water breaks you know it. If it was a trickle it may be that your baby is so low that it's putting extra pressure on your bladder which can make you leak. And before you have blood from a bloody show you loose your mucas plug, that could be the jelly stuff. Also when you go tomorrow ask them to just break your water and see if that sets off your contractions, that's alto better than poison or whatever they are gonna give you. But take it from me. NO FOLEY do not allow them to insert a Foley ball without some kind of pain meds you'll hate it. Good luck there's nothing like seeing your new baby for the first time. I have 4 kids and it's the best thing in the world!!
If you are really worried, go to the emergency room. I recently gave birth and I was so worried I wouldn't know the signs. Trust me, you WILL know when you are having contractions. And when they get close together, run don't walk.to get help asap. If this is your first baby, it will take a while for your cervix to open up for the baby to go through.and it will be noticibly painful. If you were able to sleep through any contractions, you were likely having the Braxton-hicks contractions you've read about and you don't need to worry yet. The people at the hospital will not laugh at you or anything if you go and you're in false labor.so, go if you think you need to.or even to get a second opinion. Good luck & enjoy your baby.
My water started leaking in the middle of the night and the clear jelly could be your mucus plug when they hook your baby up to the monitors they will probably go ahead and finish breaking your water and that will start the contractions no problemo! Anyhow that's what happened to me and voila I had my little Sarah, she slipped out like a little banana. After they put me in my room I got up and got dressed and went down to watch them clean her up, she was perfect in everyway and I had no pain, I promise you'll be fine! Nervousness effects your baby so smile and be happy and you baby will be happy too! Congrats!!
Anything leaking from your vagina during pregnancy should be checked out immediately. Since you are 41 weeks and 2 days pregnant, I would say it's time to go to the doctor tonight. I know 2 people who gave birth after being scheduled for an induction. Pray that the baby is coming naturally tonight! Broken water doesn't have to be bloody, gushing, or any of that. It comes in all forms. Good luck to you and your baby! Get some sleep in the hospital too and don't do dishes when you get home!
Rather than rushing to hospital, how about telephoning first ? Advice may be all that is needed for now.
I had the same problem as you - a few days before i was due to be induced i was loosing a lot of discharge and unsure whether or not it was the mucus plug.
Then In the middle of the night after a few days of that i woke up with what felt like period cramps, i went to the toilet and i had what looked like bloody mucus, kind of a purple reddish colour.
I didn't loose my waters until the nurses pierced the sack (which doesn't hurt), but i did loose my waters in a previous pregnancy and it was like a trickle at first (i thought I'd peed myself!) and then it was more of a gush a little later - and i knew for sure then that i was loosing my waters and not incontinent!
Often women who are due to be induced go into labour just a few hours before - and you said you've had contractions, could be any hour now! Be strong!
P.S. the first baby can take a few hours to come, I went straight away to the hospital and was sent home as they knew it would still be a while. They told me to come back when the contractions got too strong to handle, which I did and yet it was still another 7 hours after that ZoƩ was born!
I would suggest you call the number on the front of your maternity records and ask for advice. If you don't have one, call your midwife, doctor, or NHS direct.

It sounds like your body is getting ready for labour so don't panic too much. If your waters break you would know about it (lol) but they may just be leaking slightly or it could just be normal discharge.
Make sure you get looked at today. Don't panic about dashing to the ER, make the call first and they will probably either send a midwife to see you, or advice you to go to the Maternity hospital for a check up. You could always ask for a stretch and sweep while you are at it which may set things going without the need for an induction.
Best of luck and enjoy your baby!
phone your midwife now. sounds like your in labour. when my waters broke it was a very slow trickle as well. good luck with the new baby, i hope everything goes ok.
PS let me know what you had.
Phone the hospital or doctor, they will probably ask you to come in to get checked.
go to hospital , better safe than sorry! good luck!
it sounds to me like its started, get yourself to delivery suite and if not, try not to be too nervous abou being induced, i was and it was fine.
i think a doctor is the onlyone that can answer this.
My water broke on my first and it was just a trickle, not a gush. It is best to go to the doctor now as there is a risk of infection for the baby if he/she is not born within 24 hrs. They use litmus (sp?) paper to test for the acidity of the liquid which determines if it is urine or amniotic fluid.
On my first, my plug came out in one chunk. Very gross! On my second it melted so I never noticed it. I think both are quite common.
Best of luck!
I'd go to the hospital now to make sure. If you're waters have broke then you have to go asap because otherwise an infection could occur. They may have broken but the pressure of your baby's head may be stemming the flow. I don't mean to scare you but don't rely on other people's answers just go to the professionals even if there's nothing to worry about. Good luck and hope all goes well!
beleive me you will know when your having contractions and going into labour, so dont worry and good luck
hi it sounds like they have gone, you need to go to the hospital now.
don't worry about being induced, sometimes it can be better than going into labour naturally.
best to give your midwife or maternity unit a ring explain the situation and see what they say. that way at least you will no whats going on. also no one can make you being induced they can advise it but unless there is danger to you and/or baby then you can wait it out.
I had a clear show just a few days before my baby was born.
When I had a show with blood - your a lot closer to labour. I had mine on the morning I had my baby.
Everyone is different but sounds like your waters are breaking - it can be a trickle or a gush of water. Either way, you should call your doctor or midwife.
