How to make baby(14 months) use a cup instead of a bottle, so far have failed every time?

Answers:
I still prefer to drink from a bottle rather than a cup and I'm 21
have some patience and wait 'til they're ready - what's the hurry?
What I did with my kids was completley get rid of all their bottles at 12 months. I would give them a sippy cup instead. At first they gave me a hard time but I didn't give into them. If they are thirsty enough they will drink from the cup. Don't leave any bottles in the house. Get rid of every single one. If they see it they'll want it.
take his bottle away until bedtime. he will drink from a cup in the end.
I'd say give her time and there are special cups for kids of that age which are wasier to hold. She'll come round eventually !
Just stick with it. Tell your baby that it's time for a new way to have their milk and present them with a sippy cup. My daughter hated it for the first couple of nights but was happy with them after that. They get used to things very quickly so while there might be a few tears at first, it's worth persevering as you don't want to damage your baby's teeth by continuing to use a bottle.

Good luck (and don't give in to the tears!).
I bottle fed my children up to 7 years old and then I gradually transfer the milk to the cup and let them drink from it. chewing nipples until they gave up made their gums and teeth stronger. I trained them to brush their teeth b4 going to bed. It all depends on u if you have time to devote making formulas for your kids. I used milk as food supplement to make them stronger and healthy and I succeed.
1st buy the sip cups with the soft nipples next
get rid of all you child bottles after then you child have no choice but to drink from the sip cup after about 2-3 month change those cup to the hard top sip cups or mite want to change them early if you child has all of there teeth and has started to bite on the soft sip cup.
got a similar problem with my three year old am battling ith him to use a cup we will win as more patience than him.
It took four sleepless nghts but then my daughter gave in and started drinking from a cup. I would hide all the bottles otherwise she will just hold out for a bottle. It is super important to do the changeover at this time becuse teeth get damaged by prolonged use of a bottle. Good luck and be strong!
If you are trying to get rid of the bottle for good than i would just introduce the cup and put there favourite drink it in and have it with lunch and breakfast. Some kids like the bottle as a comfort so i'd leave them with one a day until there a little older and then they can see that to become a big girl or big boy like mummy or daddy or there brothers or siters they can use there cup all the time. I done this with my kids and they they had there bottle at night and a cup during the day. when they yused there cup i praised them and gradually they liked the praise and didnt want the bottle at night and now have a drink before bed out of a cup.
you can buy cups specifically designed for this problem, they look like something half - way between a cup and a bottle - pop into your nearest pharmacy or even supermarket - they should stock them!
The word BABY springs to mind. Let the dear little thing decide for him/herself when it is time. You will look back in 5 years time and have a chuckle over the most insignificant things like this to be concerned about. Babies decide for themselves when it is time for all sorts of things - from weaning to potty to toilet to first words or first tantrum.
Take your time and dont stress. - A bottle saves a lot of unnecessary messes and spills - and NO it does NOT make their teeth crooked or their speech to be thwarted, or to gain a lisp etc etc etc etc etc etc.. Sit back and let them develop at their own rate. They will be toddlers then children before you know it. Just enjoy the now!!
Hi,you could try at first to let your baby play with an empty cup,let your baby get use to the feel, shape and of course the handle of the cup,the cup then becomes the babies ownership, what you then do is drink from the babies cup,the child should then want to do the same.good luck
Start using cup at meal times. Pick one with a valve so that they still need to suck, like with a bottle/ this will also help so that if they drop it/ throw it it won't leak all over the floor or table) You will probably need to hold it for them and tip it the first few times (without the valve) so they get the idea that the cup has milk or juice in it. soon, your baby will be able to handle it on his/her own and will hold it and drink on his/her own.

Try gerber cups
if your baby can not see the bottle, and you tell them it went bye bye, then the only way they get to drink the milk or water, is to use the cup..expect tears, crying and temper tantrums, be firm and patient and the baby will adjust to it in time..
Try using a baby cup with mouth piece(sippy cup),but dont push it ,let child get used to it in own time
hiya
i had the same problem with both my kids my little boy would not use a cup so i give him a fun straw he loved it my little girl still wouldn't use a cup i found a straw with milkshake in there called nesquik you can get two flavors
:0)
just let him/her play with it 1st then show him/ her that you drink out of it and show them how to do it it will be very messy at 1st but should become better after practice.
good luck
good luck, coz my son who is 11 mounths isnt having non, he is just breast feeding and i am trying my best to wean him off but he is not having any off it. i dont mind breastfeeding its just that his taking it as comfort at night sleeping with it. good luck
What I did for a month after my kids turned 12 months was sippy cups during the day and bottle at night...then when they turned 13 months I completely got rid of ALL bottles. It worked and I didn't have any problems. GOOD LUCK!
If I where you i'd throw all the bottles in the garbage and tell your child that he or she is no longer a baby and is now a toddler, and only babies drink from bottles. Say you are now a big girl or boy and you need to drink from a tippee cup now. My son drank from a tippee cup at 4 months of age I had introfuced it to him, and he is now 2, and has drank from regular cups since he was about 20 months old. Try putting some juice or something else in it, and say watch mommy drink from the cup, and make it like a game. The child will get use to it, but if you cave in and give him or her a bottle when he or she cries, than you won't get any where fast. Throw the bottles away, have your child help you throw them in the garbage, let him or her see that she is a part of it and is growing up.
The thing with changing to a cup is that there are soo many out their (ones with one hole, ones with 5 holes, valves, valve less!) it's just finding the one that they will be comfortable with. I wouldn't like to say how much we have spent on trying to find the 'right' cup for our little ones but once you get it right they will glug away like little fishies. It's just a bit expensive to get their. Have fun.
You should try to get the cups with the straw already in it. It is eaiser to do it when they are younger. Hope you find something that works
you want to slowly get them off the bottle.Buy him/or her a cup called nuby it is like a bottle but a cup.you can find it anywhere, cvs, target, wlmart pretty much anywhere that did the trick for me.
Try a sippy cup.be firm. It will probably be a bit of a fight but don't give in.
See if you can get a different teat for the bottle eg an avent spout. Some children will only drink milk from a bottle but will drink other things from a cup. They like the action! Eventually they will go over - just phase out the bottles.
well i used a bottel till i was 2 and my brother wrapped it up in a towl and smashed it (glass bottle) then he thrw the otehr bottles away and shwoed me the broken glass adn said my bottle was "all gone" i dont know if it has to be this drastic. but it did stop me from using a bottle becasue it wasn't an option anymore. it's good that i did cus i have a slight overbite now from using a bottle so logn and prolyl would have a worse oen if he hadnt of done that. my parents supposeldy had tried everything else
I introduced cups to my daughter at about 8 months old and she just did not have a clue at all, but I persisted with giving them to her along with her bottle and she eventually got the hang of them. she was 16 months old though! so just don't make it into a big deal let her get used to seeing the cup show her how to use it. they catch on eventually
Very simple.Loose the bottles. All of them.Whatever you give him/her ,just use cups.It takes two days for the kids to get used to.How long do you think they can go without drinking? Not for too long.eventually they will give in,if you don't sooner than him/her.Remember,don't ask if he/she wants the cup, just give it to them. You can tell your baby that the bottles are broken. That's what i did with my son.I cut the nipples and told him because he is too big for the bottle so it broke.
you cant make a baby that age do anything mabe try taking them out to buy a new cup and let them choose it
