Is it normal for morning sickness to be this bad?
Is it meant to be this bad, my doctor said it's normal but surely it can't be? I can't even leave the house.
Answers:
The sickness is all down to hormones, a friend of mine had sickness for 8 months she lost so much weight. But got through it,
It was her first pregnancy she had a lovely baby boy.
Is this your first pregnancy?
You must drink plenty try not to gulp water but sip all through the day as with sickness you lose so much fluid.
As for eating don't force yourself, eat very small amounts of whatever you want when you want.
Make time to rest as much as possible as sickness can make you feel lethargic.
Ginger is supposed to help with sickness, try a ginger biscuit or perhaps a ginger tea just sipped.
My friend was told by her doctor to drink flat coke cola to help stop the sickness, she did try this it did help her but she did not like the taste.
I hope things start to get better for you,Please take care never be a afraid to ask your doctor or health visitor anything that is there job.
I wish you well x
Are you pregnant
People are affected in all different ways,
yes i was sick all the time in my forth but that i put down to being a girl as the rest were boys i couldnt go out because i never knew if i was gona be sick it calms down after a couple of months but its all worth it
for some people it can be very bad if you cant keep anything down for the next few days then see the doctor they will be able to give you something why not try ginger tea see if that works for you....
Sorry sweety if ur Dr has checked u out.Yep hold on it's goin 2 b a bumpy ride 4 a while. Every woman reacts 2 pregnancy different. Keep hydrated!
Sorry that is all I can say!
Morning sickness affects everyone differently. I was sick all day with my first to the point where I couldn't leave my bed for the first 3 months. I lost 14 pounds during this time. With my second, it was not as brutal but still lasted much longer (7 months or so).
If your doctor says its normal, then go with that. If you start to feel worse or have symptoms of dehydration then you will need to be seen immediatly!
Just remember that you will forget all of it once you see your little one! Good Luck!
It is normal. I was like it with one of mine for 5 weeks. I couldnt even keep down water some of the time. I was given anti sickness tablets which didnt work so was told if itr didnt stop I would have to go to hospital to be hydrated, as I was having really bad headaches. Fortunately it stopped.
It is horrible, get on the sofa in some nightwear and a blanket and sleep, rest, I couldnt do anything, and didnt want to either. Try to eat the odd crtacker or rich tea biscuit and have a drink of water (sipped very slowly) in hope it may stay down.
It can vary a lot, luckily I never suffered with it but my sister did and was like you are for quite some time in her pregnancy.
yes it is normal.. I keep vomiting too when i was pregnant..Eat biscuit and soup at least..
If its really bad, take rest for a while..
No this doesn't seem right at all. I would go immediately to see your doctor or local A&E. You could well be dehydrated, which is bad for the baby.
Oh so sorry morning sickness is the pants of hell!
I was sick all day and all night for three months with my first child. Toast or a dry buscuit is good that helped me for some strange reason.
It is normal for some to be that sick and some lucky ones get no sickness. I lost weight when I was pregnant and did not put any on until later stages.
Try not to worry it will pass honest.
For some people yes. I used to get up 3-4 times AT NIGHT to throw up. It was so bad that I was hospitalised at 4 months on the drip because I had de-hydrated. The sickenss continued for the entirwe 9 months (not so bad, but at least three-four times a day). The good thing was that I did not put on any weight at all (I was the same weight when I went in to give birth as before pregnancy) and had a 10 llb healthy baby boy and left the hospital 17 lbs lighter!!!!!
So there is a silver lining to every cloud. Don't worry it will ease up. Good luck
Its horried.. i suffered certin smells set me off try sucking on a ginger biscuit it helped me alot
Oh yes, it was for me. I actually had to stop working. It didn't stop after the first trimester either. I had it right through.
I know you don't probably wont feel like it, but eat a small amount as often as you can, as the hungrier you are the worse you will feel. A friend used to keep a packet of biscuits beside her bed and eat one before she got up, it helped her.
Some people find dry biscuits help, such as ginger or rich tea. Some people find sipping tea can help, others say peppermint tea, as it is supposed to help settle the stomach.
Nothing helped me, I tried everything. I hope it eases soon, and I know it will be worth it.
Is it your first? How far are you?
Good luck.
that is vertigo. there are antivertigo medicines available in market but consult your doctor first. are you not pregnant?
when i was pregnant my head hung over a toilet for the first 3 months what i did to help it stop was before i got out of bed in the morning i ate saltine crackers and drank warm ginger ale believe me it helped
i do not get that sick, but my sister inlaw said she can't keep anything food down, so yes it is normal foe some people to always be sick, but don't worry hopefully you will get over it soon. good luck
I had the same thing with my second child during the first trimester. I was so ill with him that I was hospitalized a couple of times to rehydrate me. I was to the point where I couldn't even sip water and keep it down. So, while it isn't abnormal, be sure and keep yourself hydrated. Keep down any fluids you can (water, tea, ginger ale - but stay away from too much caffine) and see your doctor if you haven't gotten better in the next day or so - they can give you medication that should help.
yes it is normal to be so sick , with my first born i was horribly sick also could not leave the house, my mom told me to get breakfast in bed, so every morning before i put one foot out of my bed i had one slice of toast and a cup of tea. The vomiting stop that same day.
when i fell pregnant with my second, i did not want to get sick again so i had my breakfast and didn't have any morning sickness
good luck and best wishes to you and Little one!
Yes. If you can't keep anything down at all, though, you are in trouble and make sure your doctor is taking you seriously.
I found that there was a little space, about twenty minutes after throwing up, that I could eat something. After the spasms had died down. So it is little and often.
I used to gulp ginger ale, too. I'm sorry you're so bad - it takes away all the pleasure. I had it for nine months, very distressing. Pay no attention to those idiots who will tell you it is all in your head. In fact, throw up on them! After all, it's only your imagination!
Its not normal but its classed as normal. I had this type of morning sickness the first time I was pregnant, it was terrible I was living on plain crackers and tea. I felt very drained, and went to the doctor every 2nd day to get the maxalon shot to keep enough food down to get something to the baby. My morning sickness was triggled by nearly everything , the smell of any cooking, dirty laundry, if I ate anything it wasn't long before it was up. I found that chicken soup was good but I had to sip it and was very sick of it after a week but I needed something.
I personally had this sort of morning sickness from week 6 to week 13, I thought it was great when it stoped but at my 18 week ultrasound I found out that I had lost my baby at 13 weeks but this was not due to my morning sickness it was the fact the baby didn't have the right genes to continue growing.
Some people are really badly affected with morning sickness. I knew of someone that was sick from start to end with her prgnancies. Try and keep hydrated. The baby will still get all the nourishment it needs from you even if you are unable to eat to any sense. Hopefully it will pass by soon but make sure you keep the doctor informed of how you are feeling.
yes my dear, in my case i could not eat without throwing up, i was always very weak, i had to ask a doctor if my body is not strong enough to carry a child. i was sick up to my fifth month.
so my dear, all you need is endurance you will make it.
Hiya dont worry my wife is 22 weeks pregnant and she is being sick 5-6 times a day maybe more sometimes.. it does vary in people as our best friend is pregnant (only three days later) and she has not been sick once so try not to let it bother you and just think of the end product. I get to find out the sex of my baby on monday!! WOOP!
i was sick for 7 months, most of them in hospital, i vomited up to 40 times a day they put me on a drip and injected me with anti-sickness syringe coz i couldnt take medicine. for me it was worse every time i went home every place in the house would remind me of sickness and i hated everything any smell any food anything i couldnt go out. it almost efected me mentilly i wished i was died then go through all that, but i worked on patience, be patient, i thought about other people who were really sick and nothing no medicine and after 7 months things started to get better, the worse thing was a had a 3 year old daughter. anyway good luck mate
That sounds like Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
I would go straight back to your doctor or see another doctor- sickness this bad can result in severe dehydration and lack of nutrients for you and the baby leading to miscarraige. Noone should be as sick as you describe.
I was told that if sickness continues this badly for three days or so you really need to see a doctor ASAP as you are at severe risk of having Hyperemesis. If the Dr brushes it off (like the first (male) doctor I saw did (he just said "its normal - I don't prescribe anything in pegnancy - put up with it") with me - make another appointment to see another Dr at your surgery - preferably a woman. I did this and she was totally different - she precribed me Cyclizine and it was a lifesaver. I could EAT again!!
I can't beleive your doctor just brushed it off! Was it a man? Did you impress on them just haow bad it really is? 15 times a day is not "normal" or bearable. Please go back and see another doctor or better still, phone the hospital!
Hyperemesis is usually treated with anti emetics (don't worry they don't precribe Thalidomide these days! It ill be a safe anti emetic like Cyclizine, Stemetil or Phenergan which are perfectly safe in pregnancy) and - if need, you'd have to go to hospital to have rehydration through a drip.
Please don't just carry on like this, you are at risk and so is your baby. Get some help from another doctor or the hospital asap befroe you end up hospitalised and gravely ill.
not sure if i should tell you this but i was just the same for three months and this was due to the fact that it was twins. Saying that my mate was the same and she only had one funny thing was though mine were girls and she had a girl. She is pregnant again and she has not had the same so we are telling her it is a boy lol. Whatever good luck and I hope you and the baby are both well.
Yeah its normal, dont worry though it should gradually get better then should go in the next few weeks, its horrible, but its not permenant
Hate to say it but yes,can get really bad! With my last two pregnancys i was soo bad,i had pills from the doctor that you put under your top lip and they do work but i had it till i was 5months! Ask your doctor for some medication or you could become ill and need to go to hospital on a drip, hope you feel better soon!
Hi,
If you are not able to keep anything down (especially fluids) you should go back to your GP or go to hospital. If you havent been able to tolerate any fluids for two days then you could end up getting dehydrated, this is not good for the baby's development.
You could have Hyperemisis which is basically severe vomiting. A small percentage of pregnant women suffer from this and need IV fluids+ anti- sickness medicine. Although there is no cure it tends to resolve itself later on in pregnancy. It is more common in women with twins!
A quick urine test will tell if your dehydrated.
Hope this helps
rd.
It can be and believe me you have all my sympathy. But I'm sure your doctor will be able to give you something if you continue to be sick that much. Good luck.
