Reproduction, can a woman get pregnant at the age of 50?

the woman has stopped taking precautions because her menstrural periods stopped 4 months back

Answers:
Yes - medically speaking, a woman needs to wait until she has had absolutely no menstruation for a year before being confident that she has had the menopause.

So it is possible to become pregnant. It is important to look after an older woman just the same as a younger one. People think that women over 40 are menopausal but this is not the case. The average age for the menopause is 50, and many women do not have the menopause until 55.

I think we all need education about such important things.

Good luck - I hope it works out OK.
i would be careful plenty of women on the change can get pregnant, my aunty did and she was 48
It's semi-rare but it still can occur.

If she's strokin'.... lol
Yep can get pregnant !!
Until a woman has gone through menopause, she can get pregnant. She should see a doctor to see if she's still fertile.
yeah but who would want to. her eggs are too old. If she stopped menstrual cycle she probably has nothing to worry about. its over. enjoy
She needs to see a specialist, but I wouldn't worry about that since the oldest woman in the world that gave birth was over 60 y old.The baby lived and is a healthy happy baby girl.I seen it on the news.
As long as there are eggs then there can be conception. The eggs may not be healthy however. If there is a desire to have a child really work closely with a doctor on it. There is a Huge risk of birth defects after the age of 37. Maybe look in to adoption. Less strain on the body and higher chances of a healthy baby. At the age of 50 with a life excepting of 70 that is 20 years yeah if the child is normal that is great but if the child has special needs who will take care of it after you are gone.
It is risky to get pregnant after 35 years of age for a women.
yes she can. she could have sporadic ovulation around the menopause.

Anything is possible.

EVERGREEN - Stop scare mongering. That is NOT true. It is not risky to get pregnant after 35. Yes Down syndrome and spina bifida are common complications, but very RARE.
Stop it. You are wrong.
YOUR PERIOD CAN COME BACK-----ASK YOUR DR
hell yea i got two 70 year old people pregnant
they do not technically class absent periods as the menopause until they have been absent for at least a year and there are other symptoms included. Best consult a doctor before stopping birth control unless she would like a baby at 50.
Okay the first step is to see if you can remember when you first started ovulating, the later it was in life the the higher the chance is that you have not started menopause, therefore there is a greater chance of getting pregnant. However, on occasion women who have started menopause had occasionally become pregnant but that is about a 1 in 50,000 chance, so if your menstrual periods stopped then you are either pregnant now (highly unlikely) or you have started menopause. Hope I helped!
actually by the age of 45 mentural cycle stops and woman is no more reproductive, but some times menstural cycle continue till 50 yrs , so you may be one of them. see your doctor.
Its rare, but if you/she hasnt reached menopause, then u can, but there is a very high risk of your child having a birth defect!!
yes but why would you want to when the child starts high school you will be drawing your pension
yes she can.
yes, even if she pre/post menopausal
Absolutely, she needs to wait at least 12 months before stopping precautions as sometimes periods can start again when you think they've stopped. My mum is 55 on Monday and is still having regular periods, so there's no set age!
Yes indeed. The oldest woman to give birth was a 66 year old Romanian.
i dont htink so because when a woman goes thrugh menopause her eggs die
yes they can get pregnant or could be menopase see the doctor
