When is my baby allowed to drink tap water?

My baby is almost 9 months old and I still give her cooled boiled water to drink and also use it to make her juice.
When would I be allowed to start using tap water because it'd be so much easier.

Answers:
I beleive 12 months but I used tap water for juice from around 10 months. As long as the container it's going into is clean I don't see the problem to be honest, their immune systems are developing all the time. Might be worth consulting a health visitor though. I don't think you can give them bottled mineral water though.
HMMM, i'm thinking that at 9 months old your baby has put worse things in his/her mouth than tap water
1 year to be safe
12 months is the accepted guideline. But I assume that at 9 months your baby is mobile? In which case she's already picking up germs everywhere so tap water prob won't do her any harm :-)
I don t know..Ask pediatrician doctor
Buy a PUR or Brita water filter and hook up to your kitchen tap. You won't have boil the water.
I never boiled water to make drinking water. If your water is not safe or you are unsure of quality, get a water filter. Brita makes a great one you connect right to the faucet.
I always used it at birth! No harm done!
at 9 months your baby has put a lot of things in her mouth. with my two children i put them on tap water at about 8 months. i put there water through the filter first to take things out of the water. if you still aren't sure then contact your health visitor. she will advise you on the best thing to do.
If he is crawling it's likely he has put worse things in.

Best advice: Live a little.
hi both my babies started drinking tap water at one year old and they were both fine, hope this helps.my midwife told me never to filter the water until they were one year old,it does more harm than good!x
I am a nutritionist

if your tap water if city water it is safe from the time the baby can drink ANY water (6 months)

if it is well water and you have it tested regularly same answer

if it is well water and not tested regularly you should wait till the child is 2 years old

bottled baby or nucery water is the single most useless product on the market! the only time you need to use purchased water for an infant is if you have a bad well
i have a baby the same age and i never give her tap water just think where that came from i would not drink it and would rather buy bottle water to make things easier. at least boil it before you give it to the baby.
I started using it to make her bottles, juice, and rice creal at 8 months old. I did however filter it first. It takes all the impurities and dirt that comes out of the pipes and faucet and leaves you will clean water. You can go to Wal-Mart or Target and buy a filtered pitcher or you can get one that attaches right to the faucet. Make sure your child gets tested for Lead poisoning just in case (you never know what are in those pipes), and I believe they do it for free at WIC or the health department.
Go for it unless you know your tap water to be unsafe or to have high levels of anything that would be toxic to a baby. If your baby is healthy and you know of nothing harmful, I wouldn't worry about it. (But obviously, checking with her pediatrician is the best route.)
I would say after a year I would use filtered water though and don't drink tap water myself
right now all you have to do is boil it and cool it
Tap water is fine at any age, so long as it is treated (in other words, city water). Boiling water is no longer necessary these days unless the water department recommends it due to a water line break or contamination, or if the water comes from an untreated well and has never been tested by the health department.
ABOUT 12-16 MONTHS YOU SHOULD GIVE HIM THE JUG KIND FROM THE STORE OR BOTTLED WATER. THAT AND THE FORMULA IS ALL HE SHOULD HAVE FOR A LEAST THE FIRST 12 MONTHS. THEN HE CAN HAVE BABY FOOD AND JUICE AND MILK FROM THE STORE.
My two sons (27 months and 11 months) have been drinking tap water from birth. Their pediatrician recommends it. If you have a well, I believe you're supposed to either boil the water or give them bottled, but if you have city water, it's fine. Neither of them have suffered as a result of drinking tap water. I'm firmly convinced that my older son is a genius. :D
my baby is 10mths and is fine with tap water as long as you sterilise the utensil ( which my mums says i dont need to do know) then the baby will be fine.
using tap water is relatively safe to use at 9 months
i have a 10month old and i am goin to keep filtering with a britta jug for another couple of months..its just as handy
In my 'birth to 5' book it says you can give it from 6 months. my daughter is 9 months old and i did that with her! and to be honest how much water does a baby really drink..
I still boil water to make her bottles though.
i would say 12 months to be on the safe side.
when she is 12 months it should be safe
My little boy is 11 months, he has been having tap water since 8 months.
I worked on the principal that as he was crawling and putting all sorts in his mouth then he would be ok, as you cant sterilise everything.
However i do not give him alot of tap water, he also has cooled boiled water sometimes too.
From 6 months on they can have cows milk and tap water.
u dont need 2 sterilize everything anymore
both my kids didnt die or get something from tap water so go ahead
no its no good for a baby
