Why wont my 8 year old eat meat. ive tryed since a baby. is she the only child like it ?
Answers:
My 11-year-old hates meat. Even when he was a toddler and we would walk past a deli, he would be repulsed by the smell and start gagging like he was going to vomit. Every kid has something they don't like, and I guess that just happens to be their thing. Just make sure she's getting the right protein and iron from other sources. Definitely talk to her pediatrician about it.
She is the devils child, Burn her! Burn her!
have you tried cooking it? =p
just face the facts maybe she just doesn't like the taste of meat
no, my son is like that he is 8 also i tried all the joints of meat only to find that he didnt like meat because he had to chew so i intruduced steak mince, chicken mince he still wont eat joints of meat but he`s more likely to give it a try
Everyone likes something different. I am with your daughter. Though I am not a vegetarian I do not like most meats.
Do not force her to eat something she does not like. Encourage her and try things like hot dishes etc where it is mixed with other things and you can not really taste it. But it is fine if she does not like it. Just make sure she is getting enough nutrients and vitamins in other parts of her diet!
she just might not like the way it taste's will she eat it if it's like a cheese burger or cooked in something else to hide the taste?
Maybe she is a vegetarian? and/or doesnt like the taste of meat? Maybe she has seen something horrible that was linked with meat? Like a show or something said where meat comes from and how it is made? have you asked her why she wont it it?
my little eight year old sister in law is the same way, she only likes veggies and stuff like macaroni and cheese. as long as she is getting protein from somewhere, like beans or peanut butter or things like this then I wouldnt worry. but if you want her to get meat, try her on several different things. she may decide she likes chicken, or pork.. if she isnt getting adequate nutrition it could be harmful to her, if all else fails give her childrens vitamins or give her ensure for children.
I wouldn't eat meat as a child as I didn't like the texture - just make sure she gets protein from other things instead like cheese, eggs, nuts etc and maybe try Quorn and other vegetarian products to see if she'll eat those.
It's probably just personal preference. She doesn't like it. You could try other things like tofu or quorn to see if she would like that instead. If you're worried about her getting protein you could try her with fish.
Lots of children are fussy eaters. Just try to give her a balanced and varied diet. A vegetarian diet can be amazing healthy and appetising.
A lot of children these days prefer a veggie diet. Be glad as your daughter probably cares about the animals and is therefor a caring child.
If she just doesn't like it don't give it to her and she'll probably come round as she gets older having never been made to eat it.
Try mixing it in with somthing that she likes
my cousin was like that but in the end she became a vegetarian so dont force her ask what she likes to eat
has she tried it?
'cause she just might not like the taste of meat
no biggie
Maybe she likes fluffy animals.
Whats the problem if eating a vege balanced diet (ask doctor) for the right stuff. She will probably be much healthier.
Get her exercising a lot more.
my sister is nearly 20 and it isn't so much the taste as the texture that she doesn't like.
even now she doesn't really like meat, and will eat other things.
check she is still getting enough vitamins we get B12 from meat but if the rest of her diet is good then she should be alright
My cousin was like that.
lf she doesn't want it l don't see what the fuss is about, so what she may not like it!
As long as she's healthy and happy, maybe take her to the doctor for protein pills as you miss out on that when you don't eat meat, but other than that, l don't see a problem!
My sister has always been the same. just make sure he eats healthily and he will be fine. Dont force him.
I have been trying with my son to eat meat and he is three years old. Dont get upset I say just be patient I guess. I am going through the same thing.
sneak meat juice in to the vegitables
a lot of children dont like meet the way it looks the way it smells it horrible dont force her just try fish or something if that doesnt try vitamins
My son is 10 and he has never liked meat but i think this is more ado with the texture of it rather than the flavour.
he will happily munch down on a herta Frankfurter but won't touch roast dinner with a ten foot barge pole
The plus side is that there isn't a vegetable he won't eat.I've seen him eat brussel sprouts and onions raw lol
You might want to compromise and let her have something processed like chicken burgers or hotdogs. It's meat content is negligible but it does have some meat in it and has a soft gooey unmeat like texture which most kids find very palatable.
Soya bean stuff or other meat substitute might also do the trick, my son likes quorn a lot so you could try that.
You don't have any reason to worry as long as the rest of her diet is balanced : )
good luck

My 6 year old isn't keen either. what I tend to do now is to cut up the meat and put it on skewers and make sure that its been in a marinade - even barbecue - or I give him a bit of tomato ketchup for him to dip his meat into (I know. ketchup on the table is not good!).
He seems to like this way of eating meat as its fun. Also slow roast or slow cooked meat has that melt in the mouth consistancy and she may enjoy this more.
Make your own chicken nuggets. easiest thing in the world to do... get some chicken breast, roll it in flour and then egg and then roll in breadcrumbs - grill, roast or fry them! You can also add some parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs for a cheesy twist! Yummy! My little boy loves these, and I know that the ingredients are not processed and all natural.
If your daughter simply won't eat meat, then make sure she is getting her protein from other sources.
I am no longer a child, but I don't like meat. I've never liked meat and wouldn't eat it as a young child. I'm a vegetarian, so maybe she is too. I don't know why some people doesn't like meat, but we don't..
She is obviously the one with brains in the family then,,, good for her
