Do I need to be worried about the kissing disease?
i'm 15. glandualar fever is what i'm on about. Is it caught just through kissing?
Answers:
Well it is transferred from one person to another in saliva and so kissing is one obvious way by which the disease can be transmitted. However, the infection is also spread via airborne droplets (i.e.it can also spread through coughing or sneezing). There is no real treatment for it just to ease the symptoms which can have rare complications such as pneumonia. MOre often than not it fixes itself with minor efects.
Chances are you could have even had it already and didnt realize, having caught it from a teen or adult who coughed on or from other children at daycare, in which case you are now immune. Remember the symptoms can look like many other illnesses including strep throat or the flu.

well i know of just one and thats mono and it is very hard to catch so i would say no
What is it?
Glandular fever is a viral infection associated with a high fever.
It's also known as infectious mononucleosis or kissing disease (long ago it was realised that the infection was passed on through saliva - for example, by kissing).
Causes
Infection begins in the salivary glands, which release large amounts of the virus into the saliva. The infection then spreads to the B lymphocytes, causing them to multiply (and causing the lymph glands to swell and become painful).
The virus remains in the person's body for the rest of their life
Once infected, the virus remains in the person's body for the rest of their life, dormant in the cells.
yes
It is passed on through saliva so yes kissing, sharing drinks etc can spread the illness, I've had it before and its not nice.
If you're referring to mono, then many people are already infected with it and do not know. Its a disease that you can get and not notice. You shouldn't really be worried about it because even if you have the symptoms of it, they aren't that bad and they go away after awhile. And once you get it and get over it you become immune to it for life. It can be passed easily, but it's not too bad.
wtf
talk 2 ur doctor and idk if that disease is still around.mybe its like herpes
No. U can also get it by drinking from a water fountain that a kid has also drank from....but they also have to spit in it or get some spit in the knozzle. U can also get it by drinking from someone who already has it!! There is other ways but they are pretty explainable!!
