that's to advise people that you are having a baby in your car and you would appreciate it if they don't honk you suddenly or cause you to brake suddenly..you want people to be more considerate and be less aggressive in their driving around you.

If people see those signs they tend to back off a little.

The purpose may be that any passing vehicle doesn't honk recklessly.not to irritate the baby. if the baby is not infant then he may poke out a hand or his head. So it also cautions others for not overtaking from close distance. ..
I think the original idea was to kindly request the driver behind to keep their distance... However as I get older and there are more signage in the back of cars, I find myself getting closer to read them, so can be quite funny, so they are failing to work in my case

It's meant to alert other people that you may be driving more cautiously because of your precious cargo, or that you may be doing emergency stops to retrieve thrown toys! Although it doesn't stop boy racers tailgating!

because you don't realize it but the kids driving crazy around will actually have a lil respect for you. I know this one cause I use to be one of those kids. People are less rude to you. You don't get as many finger's. Hey maybe every one should get one. Really people do behave better knowing there's a baby in the car. You know those annoying people who won't let u over in there lane try the baby sign they'll let you over then.

Hopefully greater safety for the children. Our hope is that you will be a little more careful knowing there is a baby on board. They do not work as much as we would like.

i have a baby on board sign and a child on board sign and other drivers take no notice and still drive to close to my car. it make me really mad. a baby on board sign make no difference where i live but might in your area.

They do nothing. People don't drive extra carefully around those cars with signs anyway. It's like Bill Engel would say.."I have a baby, here's my sign"
