The only limit is how late. You really need to make up your mind before 12 weeks pregnant because the procedure gets more complicated and risky after 12 weeks.
Then you have got to get some good reliable birth control.
24 weeks is th elimit I suggest you do it sooner than later though.it gets more expensive every week past 8 weeks and your options become more and more limited. at 24 weeks it becomes a 2 day procedure and it is emotionally and physically painful.if you are still under 8 weeks I suggest you take care of it right away!

Don't recommend but you can have one as early as 11 weeks gestation-- obviously the longer you leave the fetus to grow the harder it is to bear. They will do a simple d&c afterwards
If you leave more than 12 weeks the chances are they will want you to give birth to the baby- which it will be by then and believe me it's not very nice

Most people I know that have had abortions have really regretted it. Its a huge burden that you have to bare for your whole life. Have you considered putting the baby up for adoption? At least then you know you did the right thing and wont feel guilty later on in life if you did go on to have a family. Really think about it long and hard. I had a baby at a young age (he is 7 now) They bring so much joy- sometimes you have to make difficult decisions.
If you did decide to abort, do it before 12 weeks pregnant. To abort at more than that is awful- it may be 'legal' but much older than that, babies can survive if born.
Consider your options- adoption could allow your baby the very best start in life if you decided you didnt want it. It would also bring joy to a family who did want a baby. I have seen pictures on here of late abortions and it made me sick. It really is a horrific sight. In most late abortions they have to dismember the baby and remove it. There are pictures on here of aborted babies with limbs missing. It's awful! I don't want to cause any offence but that memory of those pictures will never leave me.
My advice would be to have it as soon as you know you are pregnant and know for whatever reason that you can't go ahead with the pregnancy. Preferably early 1st trimester. And never to have a late abortion unless there are serious medical reasons for it. It's better to give the baby up for adoption than to cause it suffering in that way.
I am not against abortion, I am just against the wrong reasons for women having them.

SECONDLY, now i am going to answer your question. how far pregnant do you have to be to have a termination of pregnancy? anytime (before the 24th week) and as soon as possible!!
i say this because it is easier and safer if it is done early.
most people find out that they are pregnant about 4weeks into the pregnancy.
you can terminate it straight away.
after 24 weeks it is illegal, and doing one at 28weeks is a danger to YOU and it is not safe at all.
if you do it as soon as nine weeks or less, you can do it via the abortion pill. this involves 2visits to clinic; on the first visit they will give you a tablet to take by mouth, and on the second visit 2days after they will insert a different tablet into the opening of your cervix. this will dissolve and you will get period pain like cramps and you will start to bleed expelling the pregnancy. you will have to bring a pad and are not allowed to use tampons. this is to reduce infections. you are allowed to take paracetamol at this time for pain relief from the cramps.
if you are under 16weeks, method used is called vacuum aspiration where your cervix is gently dilated and the contents of the womb is sucked out gently through a suction tube. generally perfomed under general anaesthetic though if you are under 12weeks it can be done under local anaesthetic if you are brave enough. proceedure is quick, no more than 15minutes, or less - by 15minutes you would have woken up already, so about 8minutes approx. normally you will be admitted as a day patient and can go home after 2hours or so (to make sure you are okay and they will not let you go until they are sure).
at 17+weeks proceedure is more or less the same but is called dilation and evacuation (D&C) but the cervix is much more stretched and operation lasts longer. there is a greater risk of perforation to the uterus and damage to the cervix, which is understanable because by this time the embryo is now a foetus, with arm, legs, a spine, and are in the stages of forming sets of teeth etc. normally you will have to stay overnight at the hospital because procedure is more demanding. that is why i STRESS that if you are going to do it at all, do it as soon as possible. its makes the procedure easier, and cheaper, and quicker and there is less complications and risks for you.
another thing. there may be a waiting list for popular clinics especially in cities like london, so time is really of the essence.

its defo 16 weeks but some times they do make exeptions and you could have it done at like 18 weeks or summit but make sure ur doing the right thing
14 - 16 weeks is pushing it
but the are other techniques if your are further along
rather than a vacuum d&c.
