Niggling abdo discomfort?
Hi. I am 5 and a half weeks pregnant and am suffering from niggling abdo discomfort.I wouldnt call it cramp or pain but I know that its there.is this normal?
Answers:
it could be anything from constipation to something you ate and now doesn't agree with you, I think at 5 weeks there would be very little a doctor could do if you visited him, I would monitor myself and take it easy for the next few days if possible, your body is going through so many changes that at times it is going to feel different. If you start having serious pain, stabbing etc, or blood loss then I would worry more and seek help. you are going to be so tired for the next few weeks so sit back and relax, take the strain off your feet and you will feel better soon.
Go to the doctor
yes, this is normal, especially if this is your first pregnancy. the slight cramping is caused from your abdominal muscles stretching. the smaller you are usually causes more stretching pains. i weighed 98 lbs when i became pregnant with my first son. i had a lot of growing pains.
make sure you tell your doctor about them at your next OBGY appointment. call your doctor right away if you have any bleeding pain that comes and goes more than three times in a hour, back pain-( you could have a urinary or kidney infection)- painfull urination, or stiff neck or shoulder pains which could be a sign of a tubal pregnancy if that hasn't been ruled out.
Don't panic, as long as you've had no heavy bleeding you're probably fine.it gets more uncomfortable with time believe me!
Try not to forget, your body is working flat out producing all manner of hormones etc. so some discomfort is not surprising.the pain you're feeling could also be implantation - as the foetus attaches to the wall of your womb.
relax, rest, if you're still worried, call the midwives at your dr's surgery..best of luck!
This could be your baby sitting on a nerve, although it isn't very big right now it can still trap a nerve. i had this problem when i was pregnant and then when my baby started moving all was fine. If the pain gets worse or you are concerned speak to your doctor and they can check that all is well
Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck x x x x
