What is more painful: the contractions or giving birth?
Answers:
The contractions, and also the head coming out! My advice would be to get an epidural
contractions
my mum says : contractions (cos she dint give birth naturally.)
def the contractions
The contractions as they can go on for hours.
Definetely contractions cos by the time you are giving birth its a relief the end is in sight so you don't dwell on the pain so much
the whol event is painful, but i think the contractions are worse... by the time you are giving birth your in so much pain that you dont even know where the pain is coming from....try not to focus on the pain and focus on the job at hand....its true you forget the pain very quickly once you are holding your little bub
After the contractions, giving birth is a breeze!
The birth, i say, but it is different for each woman.
I wouldn't worry to much though, you do forget the pain. I know it hurt and it hurt like hell, but i can't remember the pain.
I went into it knowing it would be the most painful thing ever and it was, my bub was 9lb2oz but worth it all
the second stage of your contraction but hey its worth what you get a the end we all have different pain barriers i have three children so it cant be so bad good luck .my mother in law has 13 children no joke
Hands down, I'd have to say the contractions!! They last longer and are way more painful!
Good Question!
Neither. It is a female myth to make men think they are cleverer adn tougher than they really are, as sex and children are all women are really good for
Just look throughout history - all the great writers, scientists, artists, musicians, chefs, engineers, statesmen. all men
oh my god! definitely the contractions, its amazing when baby comes out all the pain is magically gone aahhh
the contractions, without a doubt. probably because once you actually start pushing at least the end is in sight!
Definately giving birth. Well actually probably both just as bad but the drugs numb the contractions but they dont help with giving birth.
I don't remember which was the most painful as I was out of my head on gas and air - all I remember was that when the midwife and my husband had one of my feet each on their hips and she was saying, "Push down on your bum!" I felt like I was floating away and without them holding my feet I would have floated all the way up to the ceiling!
The contractions definitely - they are like huge period cramps, and get stronger and last longer until you feel like you are having one constant one.
I found a birthing ball really useful during my contractions, sitting on it and swinging round really eased my back pain.
the contractions!
Everyone told us giving birth was painful but when my wife gave birth to our two kids I never felt a thing.
I would say this is a question that is actually opinions since everyone is different, for me it was mixed my 1st child was over 24hrs.of maxed out contractions then c-section but none of it was bad enough to stop me from doing it again, the 2nd child was a 100% natural birth and I would say the delivery was worse but the worst of the whole experience for me was the discomfort through the healing process.I healed quickly but it slowed me down for a few days. I think for my daughter the delivery was harder on her then the labor.
I found that giving birth was the most painful but I also got to the hospital late and missed my chance for the epidural. It all hurts but the end result makes it worth every second.
the last round of contractions, the head coming out is similar to having a number 2 after severe constipation, but with a bigger object, ( not trying to be grosse, but was advised to look out for the feeling so that i would know the end of the process was near.)but the rest seems to have flown out like a whoosh of calm water--very lovely feeling!! try nto to think about it too much as it makes you nervous, just think that so many others ,including weak looking women have survived it ,to tell the tale. what will help if you are pregnant is to tell all the advisors that you will swop birth stories after yours is complete.
The whole enchilada.
The contractions definitely ! I have had 4 babies , 3 normal delivery 1 c-section (10.6lbs) . The 3 normal deliveries , i had an epidural for baby 1 , didnt feel a thing , babies 2&3 just had gas & air but once ur into the 3rd stage , delivery , its not half as bad as the contractions .. I love giving birth !
I would have to say my contractions were the worst for me. I had back labor both times. Then in the middle of pushing my daughter I had to stop because the cord was wrapped around her neck.I also decided to go without the epidural or drugs for either one of them. But I'm here getting ready to do it again for the 3rd and last time.
contractions
It all depends on your pain threshold and your ability to relax. I had two drug free labor and deliveries and to be honest the worst part for me was them putting the IVs in, lol.
If you can learn to relax and keep your anxiety down during labor then the contractions won't be as bad. As for delivery, well it will depend on a few things, how long it takes, size of the baby and position of the baby. My first was 3 pushes and she was done, went so fast I barely had a chance for the pain to catch up. I was cut, didn't tear, but the preasure from her head I didn't feel that.
My second, she was posterior, or sunny side up as they are refered to. I had more back pain the contractions with her which is caused by the position. She also took longer to get out since her face was facing the wrong way. I tore with her but didn't feel it either b/c of her head and the preasure.
I guess like I said before it depends on what you can take. I am scared to death of needles so my choice to go natural was originally driven by fear but after the first I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
My third was an emergency c-sec and the pain from the insision was worse then any of the labor & delivery pains I had with either of the girls.
definately the contractions up until i an epidural, then it was like heaven. You can kick back and wait to dilate to 10cms without feeling a thing.. then the birth, that was painful for me even with the epidural. I could feel my bones being ripped apart when his head came through and that was a horrible pain. But i had a pretty big boy, other women i have talked to said they never felt that because they had 6-7-8 pound babies. My baby boy was 9Ib 7.
but all worth it. And yep it is true that you forget about it all once your baby is in your arms! I even had to be reminded that i had more work to do (push out the placenta!) but that was easy done. It actually is a soothing feeling after pushing out a big baby! Goodluck, and dont worry.. you will do just fine!
definetly the contractions. I didn't have any pain medication, so they hurt very badly. but concentrating on something and doing deep breathing does help.
deff contractions
