How much milk should an 11 month baby be having?

my 11 month grandson is waking up during the night and will only settle when given a bottle whichn he drinks all off it! I appreciate that he has probably got into a habit now but my daughter and partner work full time and to have a screaming baby isnt conducive to being able to be alert for work! My daughter worries that he is taking too much milk so is cutting down the amount of formula in each bottle. He has 2 x 6oz of water with 4 scoops of formula (one in morning and one in afternoon. To go to bed he has the proper 8 ox bottle. Which leaves the extra one he has during night. She is decreasing the amount of formula in that bottle so it is getting weaker. I just worry that he is getting enough milk. He has solids as well of course at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

my wee boy was waking up during the night and we did the same. what we started to do was feed him a bowl of ready brek or porrage oats aswell as his night time bottle before bed. we also started putting him to bed later, instead of bed at 7 - 7.30pm we put him down at about 8 - 8.30pm. on the first night of trying this he slept right through and has done so ever since.
i would stop diluting the bottles this is where he gets important nutrients - instead give him juice during the day and keep the bottles of milk for morning and bedtimes. by giving him juice during the day he really looks forward to his bedtime supper and bottle! if he stills wakes in the night just give him a bottle of water and this will break the link of waking up for a bottle of milk.

i hope this helps
A baby will let you know when he/she is full. If he wants to eat, let him. He is not going to drink what he doesnt want to. Just keep letting him take the bottle, he will be fine
Babies of new born age up untill a year usually feed on demand so when a child demands it unfortunately you have to feed them..
I had the same problem with my son.
Is he crawling or walking yet? If he is then he will need more food rather than milk and should start to sleep better in the nights.
My health visitor told me not to cut down formula in the bottles, but to switch to water altogether in the nights.
Your grandson might be drinking milk in the nights out of habbit rather than need.
I introduced more solids in the day, i.e fruit and brown bread as snacks.
An 11 month old should really be having around 20 fl Oz a day, but that is included in milk used for cereal, mashing vegetables and cooking.
I feel for your daughter, this isnt an easy thing to get through.
i think you should feed a baby when the baby wants it,but also i dont think he should still be waking up through the night for a feed.when he turns one he will be able to go onto full cream milk and he can have as much as he likes
he will let you know when hes had enough, also it states on the formula tubs that there should be 1 scoop per ounce as this can make them ill. too much and he could become constipated and too little could give him the runs. my 11 month old daughter has 1 bottle of milk in the morning and one at night, i give her juice throughout the rest of the day
u r supposed 2 multiply the baby's weight by 2.5 oz
Listen for little childrens you shouldnt be woriied bout getting them fat or anything like that matter of fact babies should have lots of milk and he or she will give u a type of sign wen they dont want more cuz u see wen their babies they need lots of protein and vitamins to built their muscles nice understand so u keep giving them milk till they dont want. wen their little kids dont worry bout food worry round age 5 and by then they should have muscles built strong and shouldnt drink so much milk dont worry this is normal in little ones
An 11 month old is physically able to sleep through the night without a feed - and a baby/child can never have too much milk, its vital for their development.

I've used the Annabel Karmel book as a rough measure for you (you can buy it cheap at Amazon).

It's recommended in there that between 9-12 months, they get milk with their breakfast either in cereal or on the side.

Mid morning milk with small fruit snack.

Water or Juice with lunch

Teatime - Milk with a snack

Dinner - Water or Juice with their meal.

Bedtime - Milk

Milk is incredibly important up to 2 years of age, and no child can ever have too much.

Offer water in the night, be prepared for a week of hell, but he'll soon break the habit.

He shouldn't be having bottles now - they recommend, that baby should be on a cup based system from 6 months onward.
He should not be getting *any* milk before age 1. Formula should *always* be mixed according to instructions. It can be dangerous to water it down and cause malnutrition.
If he is on a schedule that is excellent. Although not to question the parenting/grandparenting skill but you should be thinking about giving him liquids through a sippy cup. It will help and also keep in mind if it is whole milk not to give him too much because he will fill up on that instead of the food.
