Why is it women crave strange things in pregnancy?
Answers:
Seeing as we seem to be having a comp on this i have to admit that my weirdest craving during my pregnancy was washing powder. Not spoonfuls at a time but i used to lick my finger and try some. I was worried that i would do my baby some harm so in the end i had to have my washing powder taken away from me and even then i wanted to eat my freshly cleaned clothes other people had to do for me
Strange but horrifyingly true
Good Question, but mine is much better:
Why is it women crave strange things BEFORE pregnancy ?
I wanted fish during my one pregnancy and during the second I wanted Chines. I wanted fruit alot too along with Juice. The reason for strange cravings is due to the hormone levels in the bodies! The strangest craving I know of is Pickles and Ice cream! YUCK!
i want vanilla ice-cream on buttery toast! beat that!
It's called "Hormones".
And at the last 4 months of pregnancy, I was craving $ex.
I always thought that pregnant women craved things that their body lacked.. although I know they take funny forms its all down to minerals and things like that.
Although one of my cravings was salmon paste sandwiches with brown sauce.. so go figure!
pickles and ice cream together 4 both pregnancies
i craved a pain-free labour! Didnt get it mother funky!!
Everyone always asked me wot was cravin 2 eat with my 2 but i tell u a little secret, i used to buy savlon disinfectant and run upstairs for a sniff 6 or 7 times a night, it was euphoric and i wanted to eat it but knew better, but the smell *(divine)
i had a craving for lemon juice when i was pregnant also i liked marmite i could'nt stand either before
I really wanted to drink petrol! (I didn't though). I also ate a whole cucumber every day and half a jar of pickled beetroot!
i never had any real cravings as such, but there was LOADS of food and drink that made me want to puke! I couldn't stand decaf tea, coffee or cola, steamed veggies, most fruits or fruit juice/squash. I took a multi vitamin (pregnacare) so i made sure i still got some nutrition from what i was eating. I liked salty, spicey and sweet foods that took the funny taste out of my mouth (curries and tomatoey dishes) and i liked milkshakes and hot chocolate that helped with the heartburn & indigestion.
I think that so many foods make you feel like you want to be sick, you only eat the ones that make you feel better!
i used to stand in the garage and sniff the petrol fumes. Also when we had a coal fire i used to nibble the fire lighters. Gross or what!
