Pregnancy and thrush, any advice?
what are the complications when left untreated
Answers:
The baby can catch thrush from the mother. it is definatly better to get treatment for your babys sake.
Oral thrush? Rinse with half water and half hydrogen peroxide a couple times a day.
Dont leave it untreated, it can be very harmful to your baby when it is born
If thrush is left untreated it could make you very sick. It's actually easy to cure. Eat six non-fruit yogurts a day for two weeks! Problem solved without icky tasting swish and swallow or expensive pills! It's good for the baby, too!
Don't mistake thrush for a vaginal yeast infection - they are the same, only in different areas. Thrush is in the mouth and throat and can make it to the stomach and lungs if left untreated.
For a vag infection, many nurses mix plain yogurt with water for a douche once a day for a week.
You have thrush? It's easily treated with an oral antifungal. or the baby has thrush? at any rate. why untreated? If you have to, go to the emergency room and if you can't afford the treatment they'll almost certainly help you get the medication. If you write to me, I can maybe be of more help. It is just a yeast infection of the mouth/throat.. One possible help is to eat plenty of UNSWEETENED plain yogurt. eat it like ya love it. small amounts VERY frequently. The live cultures eat yeastie-beasties. It could help at least a little, but you should get to a doctor. Write to me for more info, if ya want. Take care, -Rick
Take it easy don't want to let the baby die
If you do not treat and you have a natural delivery you can pass onto the baby. I had thrush twice during my pregnancy and my midwife advised me to use a canesten pessary both times. This cleared it up and I now have a very healthy 3 month old. You can't use the oral tablets during pregnancy though as some of the ingrediants are harmful to the baby. Speak to your midwife or GP is probably best. Hope you get it sorted, good luck
Thrush is common in pregnancy get some medication from your doctor he will either give you cream or pessaries.
sometimes the baby can have thrush in its mouth which can cause discomfort, but thats all i know.
get a treatment as quickly as you can
