If an EU national gives birth whilst on holiday in the UK, do they have to pay or is it on the NHS?
Answers:
l am a nurse in a hospital and if we get people in and they are not on the system of paying inti the nhs. then someone from finance brings them a bill.
no bcoz uk has good money
no they dont pay because theyre from EU
The nurse above says yes they will be presented with a bill but some how i rather think that bill would go unpaid and that would be the end of it>>>but they could be treated under the equivalent of our E111 I really have no idea
No. They would be covered. They are european citizens.
further to the answers given yeah u give them a bill then they pXXX off out of the country sticking two fingers up so it is essentially free! well free to them not free to us english taxpayers
it would be covered by holiday insurance, but why would anyone that close to term be on holiday, the NHS's first concern would be the health of mother and baby, billing comes later they certainly wouldn't not provide care because you hadn't filled in a payment slip first
if u are an eu resident, as per agreement between countries, treatment will be free.
There are reciprocal arrangements between EU countries.
When the British go to EU countries we have an EU card which entitles you to care in those countries. There is a payment involved but not the whole amount.
Those coming here would have a similar card for treatment
They, just like us when we go abroad, need to have travel insurance which would cover this eventuality. A lot of insurance companies however are not keen on pregnant women over 32 weeks going on holiday.
