Im 40 weeks pregnant today and for the past week or so i have been getting really bad pains?

Ive been getting really bad pains quite far down when the baby moves.
It feels like the baby trying to get through my cervix but it just isnt opening. Did anyone get this when they were pregnant and if they did what is causing it?

Answers:
Yes, I got that will all 4 of my kids. The baby is setting so low that you can feel the pressure on your cervix. There is only so much room in there and it is running out.
You are probably dilating a little and getting ready for labor.
If it gets to severe and is not tolerable, call your Dr.or go to the ER.

Good Luck and Congrats!
You should be going in to labor any day now.
I believe this is normal. If you are really concerned, check with your doctor.
I'm barely 9 weeks pregnant, but I heard that you get those pains when your body is getting ready to go into labor. I hope you get through this in God's hands.
oooooooh it won't be long now, GOOD LUCK!
Your body is probably in the first stages of labor. The baby is getting ready to make his/her entrance.
You are probably having the early stages of labor. Cramps or pain can sometimes be confused with contractions. Call your doc.
Congratulations as soon as the baby comes. which will be like today or tomorrow. :) Have fun sweety!
yes its pressure on your pelvic bones
The best advice anyone could give you here would be to see your ob-gyn as soon as you can. Most likely, everything is fine, but only your doctor (or midwife) can examine you and tell you exactly what's going on.
i had that too, it feels like your baby is scraping away and pulling strings up from your inside out huh? ouch!!! i do not miss that, yeah, its normal, toughen up though sister, this is the least of your pain!! sorry, i had a horrible labor experience, it made me realize that 1 baby was enough for me. good luck, and don't forget to ask for a pain shot and epidural!!! thank god for drugs during labor!!! it was a breeze after that!!
The baby is probably pushing down, trying to engage and get ready to enter the birth canal. If your not bleeding, or leaking fluid, I wouldn't worry to much about it. If it gets to severe, or your a worrier (like me) call you doc. He/She is use to questions like this.
When I was pregnant I had bad pressure pains for a couple of days. It felt like I was constipated. Felt like I needed to go and could not. I was scheduled to be induced then at 4:00 in the morning, I started having pressure real bad. I stayed that way until around 7:00 in the morning. I had to be at the hospital by 7:30 and I had another child that I already made arrangements for so I had to wait until he was taking care of . When I got to the hospital it hurt like hell. The lady said I think she is in active labor. What it is is the baby is getting into position . Good luck you should be going anytime now. Congratulations.!!!!
Speak to your midwife. Won't be long now until you have your bundle of joy!
From 36 weeks of pregnancy, your body starts "practice" contractions, known as Braxton Hicks contractions. This starts the body's preparation for going into labour. What your probably experiencing is the movement of the pelvic bone (this bone has a joint in the middle of it & it separates a little during labour to make the birth canal bigger for the baby to pass through). You are probably in the very early stages of labour. If your worried - which you do seem to be - go see your gynaecologist (don't put your baby's life at risk) - better to get it checked out & find there's nothing to worry about, than ignore it when there is something wrong (not that I think there is, from what you've told us). Good luck for the future.
the baby could be dropping.. and you could be haveing some contractions.. i dont think you have much longer to go! good luck!
