Gentle teaching - ever heard of it?

Posted quite a bit so may be at the limit of my questions but I just cannot believe the points of view on violence to children 'smacking' and the violence in the world and so few see the linkage but was heartened a few souls did

I didn't see this post; what IS "gentle teaching"? You mentioned children "smacking".do you mean kids smacking others or adults "smacking" kids? If it's the latter, that sure as HELL is not "gentle" in any sense of the word!

Children who are hit (that includes spanking) learn that when you don't get what you want or you're angry, YOU USE VIOLENCE! This is carried into adolescence and adulthood, and leaves permanent scars on children. It also messes up society by creating more and more individuals prone to violence.

Whatever "Gentle Teaching" is, could you elaborate more, so that people can give better responses?

Yes, gentle instruction works best, but there are times when you must urgently get the child's attention, because they are about to do something downright dangerous for themselves or for someone else. Then you need a single smack on the bottom to get their attention and convince them you're not kidding. That's usually as far as it needs to go, if you save it for its shock value, and don't let kids get used to being swatted and laugh about it. If they laugh, it's time for sterner measures, like taking away privileges and grounding.
Could you please post a link to a scientific study that demonstrates children raised with a zero-smacking approach are more likely to be pacifists in later life? Thanks.

( I was occasionally smacked when I was a child. And I am a vegetarian, believe in world peace and unity, and have never struck anyone in anger in my entire life, including my child.)
