Why does the water for my baby's bottles have to be boiled once - why can't i reboil it?

Answers:
According to pediatricians, bottle warming/boiling is a matter of taste for baby only. There is no health reasons to warm or boil water or formula before feedinds, though some babies prefer it this way; especially if thats what they've become accustome to. In fact, you might want to consider starting your baby out on formula mixed with room temperature water or even a bottle right out of the fridge; if he or she gets used to it that way, you can save yourself the time and the hassle of warming/boiling water.

Although boiling water for baby isnt a problem, and boiling water more than once wont hurt anything, it really isnt needed, and is an old wives tale.

Good luck!
I never did boil water for the bottles. You mean to wash the bottles or to mix with formula. I went to WalMart and bought nursery water in a gallon jug and used that to mix with formula. Then I didn't have to worry about bacteria and all that stuff. I also know people who have used plain old tap water and their babies are fine. I did switch to tap water when she was about 6 months old. We have good well water though.
i think this may be an old wives tale.
My pediatrician said that if you have city water then not to worry about boiling it. But now supposedy chlorine is linked to cancer (along with everything else.). Purchase the nusery water from your local store. You can simply place it in a bottle without the top and heat it for a few seconds. Room temperature is also acceptable through most pediatricians too!
because of bacteria, they are boiled to sanitise them, bacteria has nothing to do with your water, it is the baby's saliva, everytime you put a dirty bottle into the water you are introducing bacteria
I never boiled my water. I would think that if you boiled it and then put it into a container in the fridge that it wouldn't have to be boiled again. I know that you are not supposed to reheat old bottles.
I never heard of that thats stupid I reboil it anyways its not like its going to affect the milk. I think that the statement means not to rewarm the bottles of formula or breastmilk.
I've never heard of that either however you are not supposed to rewarm the bottle of formula or reuse the same one. You need to discard the remaining.I don't know what the water conditions where you live are like. Most doctors will tell you to boil the water even if your city water is ok because there are many added chemicals and clorine in tap water. Boiling the water is meant to purify it of any bacterias that may still be in it. Even if nursrey water hasn't made it there i'm sure they carry soem types of bottled water. You can use any bottled water if you are worried about your cities. They still suggest boiling it but most people don't when using it like that. I didn't and we never had a problem. If you can find water that says it's sterilized then even better but even nursery water say it's not and they still suggest that you boil it.
