My sick 9 month old baby?

My son just recently got a cold. He has the sniffles & sounds congested. What medicine can i give my baby at such a young age so the cold doesn't get worse?

Answers:
The best thing to do is..get saline drops from the store (the baby ones) to put in the baby's nose and suck the mucas out with an aspirator (nasal one they make for ears too). Do this every few hours. My kids hated it but it helps immensely with congestion. I would say Tylenol Cold for Infants. However you should call your pediatrician and see what they recommend since they will not give antibiotics unless there are signs of infection. Remember to take the baby's temperature often. Give plenty of fluids like Pedialyte, milk can make matters worse also.
idk um ask a doctor or go to walgreens
I would consult your doctor. He would be able to suggest the right medicine for your child.
best thing to do is see the pharmist or doctor but i would say calpol
at his tender age you should consult a doctor or pharamcist...
You cant make a cold better in anyone with medication. Its a virus, and there arent medications for cold virus'.

If he has a fever give him childrens tylenol. Otherwise keep his nose clear, either by having him blow it, or use an aspirator. He's best to fight it on his own. Its all part of being a baby :)
Liquid paracetamol (calpol)
Liquid ibuprofen.
Medised.
Always read the label for correct doses.
Always consult your doctor if he doesn't get better within 3 or 4 days.
Go to a pharmacy and there should be a range of medcines available for a 9 month old alternatively visit your local GP for advice and to make sure your baby doesnt need antibiotics for an infection just to be safe
I don't think there is anything. My 9 month old baby suffers from congestion constantly and I've spoken to the doctor and there's really nothing he can give him. If the baby gets really bad, you could get an antibiotic from the doctor or they might put the baby on a nebuliser for a short while to help with the congestion. My advice would be just to ride out the storm. I know its hard listening to him sniffling and wheezing but it will pass.

Medicines like paralink, neurofen and calpol are designed to treat fevers and will not do a lot to aid congestion. Cough medicines are only on the market for 2 years or older.
unfortunately there is no cure for the common cold! Keep his fluids up. Give paracetamol (infant calpol) if he is running a temperature. Raise the head end of the cot up to help relieve conjestion (rolled up blanket under the matress). Vicks vapour rub can also help with the conjestion. If he gets worse, or has a temperature consistently over 38C - take him to the doctors to rule out secondary infections.
I would stick with Calpol, and a few drops of Obas Oil on his babygro throughout the day, give him a warm bath and put some baby Vicks on his chest and back before he goes to bed
there si no way to make a cold 'better' - its a virus. All you can do is comfort him through it.if you are seriously worried go see your doctor.
You could call your Doctor or the Pharmacist at your drugstore could help you too.
I gave my son calpol to bring his temp down and used to put baby olbas oil onto the bottom of his sleep suit as this wafted to the top of the cot and he could breathe in the fumes to clear his nose, i tried everything i could find that he didn't have to take orally as i believe they are too young to be force fed medicine (calpol being the exception, it really does work!)
Hope he gets better soon
Play safe - get medical advice!
get him to a doc better safe than sorry
Calpol but check the age limits on the instructions.
Nothing.please nothing. You can use some salt solution spray to clear the nose but that is all.
Medised is good for little ones with colds. I use it with my children when they have a cold.

if you are in uk Medised is good (like hardcore calpol) can get it from most pharmacy's.

Dont undersestimate the power of Calpol though

You can get Karvol that you rub on his chest its like olbas oil. That will get ride of the cogestion.
take him to the doctor. They will prob give u a prescription for decongestion
Tylenol Cold & cough is great. Also run a cool-mist humidifier in his room when he is sleeping.
i have a 18 month old who has a cold for the last 6 weeks there isnt a lot you can give babies apart from capol which dont seem to do much i even took him to the doctors but he just said just give him capol eventually it will clear up on its own it hasnt yet so it was a bit of a waste of time going really maybe one day it will clear up but at this time of year they do seem to pick one cold up after the other one
Baby calpol will be best to help keep his temp down and just plenty of fluids so he doesnt become dehydrated, if his nose becomes blocked you can ask your doctor for some saline fluid to flush his nose out to help with his breathing.
Saline drops and a nasal syringe are okay for clearing out mucus.

Do NOT get advice for medicating an infant online. Call your pediatrician and ask to speak to a nurse. She will tell you what you can give him until you can get in to the office.
there is no cure for your babys cold. antibotics are ineffective against viral infections they cant cure or shorten the cold. the best thig to do is give your baby plenty of liquids to drink fluids will keep the congestion looser. Because a baby with a cold can become tired suck briefly on one feding encourage feeding frewuently. use acetaminophen for fever more than 102 or your baby will be uncomfortable you can also use a humidifier or vaporizer or let the shower feel the room with steam and that will help
at that age you cant give him any cough medicine or anything, but you can give him benadryl to help with the congestion and that will also prevent him from developing a cough or if he already has one, it will keep it from getting worse. of course it would be childrens benadryl, you can buy it over the counter, just ask a pharmacist how much you can give him. also you can try running a humidifier in your house, that helps clear up congestion. good luck.
As ur baby is so young,so its best to consult with the doctor.Or u can talk with someone from any Pharmacy
Consult the doctor first thing. Maybe the health food store will have something that might sure it instead of covering the systems.
I have to agree with the answers you've already received. You must go to the doctor and seek medical advice. My Grandson is like that, go and talk to your local Chemist, they might be able to help you. However, I really do think you should see the doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry. So try not to worry too much. I Hope your child does get better, but you'll feel much better if you seek medical advice. God Bless You and your Baby
It will go away on its own.If he gets worse go to the doctor & they will give you a prescription.Medicine will not help the cold go away it will only help relieve the symptoms.Give tylenol for the pain.
