I too have PCOS.and YES I did get pregnant while on metformin! I have 2 beautiful children and had to have metformin and clomid with both. With my first child it took me only 2 cycles (2 months) but with my second it took almost a whole year. We had actually come to the conclusion that we were only going to have one and then wouldn't you know it.. finally got pregnant. The metformin also had some side effects.some good, some bad. I lost nearly 30lbs in 4 months without even trying, that was good. However, you may find that you will get to know all the restrooms around as your gastrointestinal tract is very active! Keep trying and I do believe that when I relaxed about the whole thing that seemed to be when it happened. Stressing about it can hinder your chances. My specialist told me that there is absolutely no reason that a PCOS woman should not be able to get pregnant.you just need to find the right combination of medications. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope your dream comes true!
I too have PCOS and have been taking metformin for well over 3 years. I'm currently at the highest dose--850mg 3 times daily. Unfortunantly the met alone never started ovulation for me. My RE then added Avandia to the Met--still no cycles. So he added Clomid--finally at 250mgs I ovulated! There is also another drug similar to Clomid--called Femara--that has shown promise to work for those who don't respond well to clomid. I know you were looking for success stories but I just wanted to share my experience with you. Good luck and baby dust!
I have pcos. My doctor put me on 100mg of clomid, then he put me on 150mg, I still did not ovulate. Last month he started me on the metaformin and for this cycle he started me on letrozole. He says that people with pcos responds to this better than the clomid.
