Going out drinking whilst trying to conceive?

is this a really bad idea?
i know you cant completely put your life on hold while you're trying and have had a drink or three on a couple of occasions so far but what about going on a night out drinking? could this be risky if you're in the early stages of pregnancy but not aware of it?

Answers:
yes it can be, the first few months are dramatically formative, in fact you can have a beer or some wine once in a while in the last couple of months but that too is against common sense. dont put your life on hold, go out and have a lime soda, its bad enough you will ne inhaling the smoke in the bar. dont take risks that will make you regret later, whats the sacrifice, 9 months, big deal.
Just don't drink at all once you're sure or at least suspect that you are pregnant.
Well, if it means your headin to the pub and your gonna spread yah legs across the bar..then just let me know which pub lol.
Hi

The month I ended up getting pregnant the second time was the first month I chilled out and had a drink or two. It really helps to be relaxed if you're trying.

With my first who was unplanned I didn't know for the first few weeks and was drinking a fair bit. She was totally fine.

Just don't go too mad. Stick to guidelines on how many units you should have and I'm sure you'll be fun.

Good luck!
just dont overdo it with the drink, be carfull and everything should be ok with the baby, good luck x
A lot of women who aren't trying will have a drink without ever knowing they are pregnant. And they have perfectly healthy babies.

I myself wouldn't drink if I was really trying to get pregnant just to be on the safe side but thats how I am. Otherwise I don't think having an occasional drink would hurt. If you suspect you are pregnant then I'm sure you wouldn't drink anyway!

Good luck!
This could be very dangerous and cause possible birth defects, so please be careful. GaryT
Alcohol and pregnancy just don't go together bad for baby in early stages as can cause all manner of problems
Oh yes my friend,The first 3 Months are the most easyest time to miscarrage,if you think you may be preg. Stop Drinking alcohol all together, please, for the babys Sake!Good luck!Hollywood!
Drinking reduces your chances of conceiving by 20% being overweight another 20% and smoking still furthur, most early miscarrages are the result of the above.
It's the first couple of weeks which are the most important for the baby, drinking and smoking causes the most harm during that time
I suggest you stop drinking altogether. Alcohol is bad for a baby at the very early stages.

But don't worry you can still have lots of fun going out without drinking! Going out is about meeting friends, dancing and having a good time. Alcohol just makes things fuzzy.
yeah go out and get p1ssed and smoke 40 fags too! No of course it is a bad idea! lol
if you can do both at the exact same time then hats off to you, don't people stare?
You should cut your drinking right down if your trying to conceive, so the Fri / Sat night binges should go straight out of the window.

I'm not saying don't drink a drop, but in moderation, it's just common sense really.

Although, saying that, as soon as you fall pregnant, I'd pack the drinking in completely. I'm sure your unborn baby's health is far more important than having a drink!

What's of more value to you.....?
Can't you do without a drink for 9 month if you're concerned? it's hardly a massive sacrifice to ensure a healthy baby who'll give you untold years of pleasure.. think? do you need a drink to enjoy yourself or just to be part of the gang?. .you can get well and truelly smashed to celebrate his/her birth and it'll taste all the sweeter.
well, make yourself aware of it.
According to the World Health Organisation, there is no such thing as a safe level of alcohol use in pregnancy. in other words, even the smallest amount can harm your baby.

I assume that by "going on a night out drinking" you mean more than 1 or 2 drinks, and my recommendation would definitely be to practice some restraint. By all means go out, and have fun, and even have a drink or two if you want, but stick to the ones lower in alcohol (a beer or two, rather than two double vodcas) and either drink slowly or drink lots of non-alcoholic fluid in between. I don't think you should get drunk if you could be pregnant.
Alcohol fetal syndrome can occur from having just a few drinks. Of course you don't have to put your life on hold but you have to be really careful! You don't want to put your babys life at risk. If you are really serious about having a baby maybe you should try and have non alcoholic drinks when going out.
it can cause birth defects. i stopped drinking when i was pregnant
dont over do it
I'm TTC - I don't drink around ovulation and after. i just wait until I get my period and stop before ovulation.
well, you're not supposed to be drinking when you are trying to conceive. It is irresponsible since the first few weeks are very important in fetal development. 3 drinks isn't much and there are plenty of women who actually binge and have healthy babies. It's your choice whether or not you want to take that risk.
it never did me any harm. that's how i found out i was pregnant with my first. alcohol made me sick
When we were trying for our second child it took awhile ton conceive. My wife was upset one weekend because she felt the onset of her period (or so she thought) and had a few drinks that night. Turns out she was about 3 days pregnant. My daughter is now 7 months old, healthy and happy.

On of the advantages of pre-natal vitamins is that it helps the mother's body protect the fetus against toxins such as alcohol. Of course there is no safe amount of alcohol to consume while you're pregnant, and you shouldn't drink if you know you're pregnant. But from what you're saying you're pretty sure you're not pregnant at this point, so enjoy yourself within reason.
i was going out drinking when i was pregnant not knowin i never touched a drop when i realsied or when i breast fed the baby she is fine now tho so i was lucky i only drank a couple of times an didnt drink much but still felt bad
I think a heck of alot of babies are conceived with alcohol in the system, mine for 1. It's kind of a social thing for some people, I fell pregnant first month we decided to try which i didn't expect, I didn't have another when I found out I was. Enjoy yourself/relax(while you can as when you are pregnant you'll be designated taxi driver and get to watch everyone getting merry around you)
Good luck
