more than likely your gonna be on bes rest, and being breathless is normal. see wjhat the doc says and take his/her advice.
I would go to your gp first thing in the morning or phone NHS direct just to be on the safe side, your heart is pushed up with pregnancy and you will be in some discomfort at times but i would not take any chances for your and your babys sake.
As far as wether the doctor will sign you off of it, this is a regional question. Every country, province, and state has it's own regulations.

Trust what the doctor says. That's all you can do.
I would be very cautious when taking advice from perfect strangers. Phone the NHS direct helpline or ring your local casualty department who will put you through to a midwife.
I am at 29 weeks and am having the same problem. You are just carrying high up like I am. the baby is pressing on the diaphragm and pushing all of your organs up and causing you to breathe hard..but the strange part is due tot he pregnancy, your body is actually processing oxygen much better than before! I know it's uncomfy, but pretty normal. As your baby drops and settles more into your pelvis you breathing will be easier. Hang in there!
I understand what your going through, I'm 27 wks along and have some of the same symptoms you have. I can't breath either and my doctor said that it is a slight form of asthma and if it gets worse to tell him. I know that I am never comfy at all either. I sit then stand then lay down for a while, I know it sucks but it's part of being pregnant. I know you must have heard this a million times but at least you don't have too much longer to go. If you are having a hard time at work from the symptoms of pregnancy then maybe you should start thinking of staying home. Good Luck and hope this goes by for you quick and you have a healthy baby!!!
You have nothing to be sorry about. You are big as a house, your back hurts all the time, your insides are trying to kick their way outside and you are trying to keep up with another child.

Do whatever your doctor tells you to do. That's it. End of discussion.
the breathlessness is because all your organs have less room, including your lungs, it's only gonna get worse, good luck!
