What is wrong with some parents?
i have in mind the parents who are passing chips through school railings where the school has recenly introduced a junk free menu.
Answers:
I dont have any children but I wish that they would have implemented the healthy eating guidelines when I was in school. I always ate junk food. My mom never bought groceries and we lived off of top ramen and potatos. I am constantly struggling with my weight now that I am an adult and have study nutrition. Parents are still so uneducated about what they feed their kids. They let them load up on crap that they themselves wouldnt eat.
get a life! What's wrong with chips now and again?
the majority of parents these days are still kids themselves. look around thats all you see, kids having kids.
What is wrong is that they shouldn't be parents. I'm a primary school teacher and teach 9 year olds, and already know the ones that should be steralized when they hit puberty.
Some ppl shouldnt have kids, I guess they want fat kids. Not me.
dude worry about ur own kids
If it does not affect you why worry
Those parents are slowly killing thier children
Report them!
I worry about the kids of these people as they are the future leaders of our country. How scary is that.
whats wrong with chips?!?! Just don't eat tons of it its fine!
Their Children? or is that chicken and egg?
so what its their kid, they dont want to encourage healthy eating its not your problem.im not fat and i took chips in my lunch everyday as a kid and a sandwich.
I am with you on this one. It completely underminds what the school is trying to acheive. And long is it till the other kids say 'mum can you do it.well what his faces mum does!'
If you want your kids to have chips for lunch fine..then let them have home dinners
The school is an educational system. If it would just stick to the fundamentals of education it would be doing well. Having gone to college with future teachers I can honestly say they have no right restricting diet for anyone. A learning facility is not to be used for a social gathering but as an institute for an education. Please get back to an education. Parents that love their children will attempt to make their children happy. Schools need to realize they are there for one reason and that is to provide an education to it's students, not to lecture on a lifestyle.
get a life what is wrong with chips in moderation ffs.. do gooders interfering in other peoples life because theirs is so empty..
i think ppl should be able to eat what they like. teachers and celebritys are too nosey now they are in school not prison how many of these do gooders ate chips as a kid? i`ll give my kids chips when i like and jamie "sodding" oliver can feed his kids grass if he wants its called a democracy.
If its their kids its fine. if the parents are hussling chips to other students then that might be a problem, especially if they make the kids pay for the chips. I could just imagine LOL.
It is laziness on the behalf of the parents, it is easier to give them junk that to make a proper meal, and home cooking seems to becoming a thing of the past. I also don't believe it has anything to do with the age of the parents but is the standards of todays living. I was 16 when I had my first child and I prepared proper cooked meals from the moment he could eat, I have had 3 other children since and they have always had a balanced and healthy diet, they love fish, fresh fruit & vegetable, I have never stopped them having junk but they now choose to have the healthy options. My eldest son is now 17 and he is a fantastic cook and I hope my children will pass their healthy lifestyles onto their children.. bring back good old home cooking xxx
It's worryin that these parents have opted for this approach. Ok they dont like Jaimie's dishes well they could have tried more healthy eatin alternatives b4 they rushed to the chippy!
Its not the worse of parenting examples but they certainly makin themselves look stupid 4 their kids- i mean what happens if these kids get obese?
Those parents are bad parents. They are teaching their child that there is no need to follow rules as long as it is not "hurting" any one else. I could care less what the child's eating habits are. They are teaching their child that they can do whatever they want and they can get whatever they want. If they want to feed their child junk food they should do it in their home where they make the rules not at the school that has made it against the rules. These children will be the ones that never truly grow up, will rely on someone (mom, dad, brother, sister) to take care of them and make sure that their needs are met. And when eventually there is no one around to care for them, they will be lost like a child trying to make it on their own in a grown up world. I pitty the child.
As for me I let my daughter eat whatever she wants. She's only 17 months old but if she wants cheetos, she can have them. I don't think that there is anything wrong with giving your child what they want to eat. I think the main reason there is a lot of kids with low self esteem has a lot to do with their parents always telling them to watch their weight or watch what they eat. Just because I let my daughter eat cheetos or candy doesn't mean I'm a good parent. If anything I'm an even better parent because I'm teaching my daughter that no matter what she is beatiful and that she should love herself no matter how skinny or fat she is. And just because someone can eat chips or candy or anything that's labeled as JUNK FOOD doesnt mean that they are or will get unhealthy! Now my question is what's wrong with parents that are always trying to cause their children to get low self esteem!
one thing some people forget is some children just won't eat fruit and veg! my daughter is 2 1/2 and will not eat fruit or veg she won't even try food that she does not like the look of! when i started her on soilds i cooked all my own food with lots of fruit and veg and she wouldnt hardly eat it and as she has gotten older she has got worse and it drives me mad! she will only eat pasta dishes rice dishes, she loves all meat and chips and no matter how hard i try she will NOT touch fruit or veg! i have to hide things like grated carrot into meals to try and get some goodness down her! but this does not make me a bad parent as she is the exact weight for her age! and now i dont worry as much cos as long as she is fit and healthy thats all that matters! i was the same as her it wasnt untill i got pregnant that i started to eat veg and now i love it! hopefully one day she will too! so my answer to your question is some parents know that their child wont eat the school dinners and dont want them to be hungry thats maybe why! though as i know my daughter is such a fussy eater the best bet would be packed lunches! each to their own as long as your child is happy and healthy thats all that matters!
GEGESMOMM - i totally agree with you - well said
ENCHANTED MELODY - who are you to tell me i don't care about my childs health if you read my answer then u will see that i have always encouraged healthy eating but she refuses to have fruit and veg! her weight is perfect and she is very very healthy thank you very much! but i am not going to destress my child by forcing her to get what she does not like! do u eat things that u dont like? - an just cos she doesnt eat fruit and veg does not mean i give her ''junk'' food! - i think some parents are too obsessed with all this! some parents are just do gooders that only allow children to have ''greens'' i think that in itself sometime affects children!
p.s
i bet you had junk food 4 u're tea! yea well we had beef stew! i process the veg into the gravey for my daughter so she just thinks she had meat and gravey! if you've got children or plan to have them i hope one of them is a fussy eater you wont put us down then!
i also think some people are sooo obsessed with doing everything by the book that they forget to love and cherish their children my daughter is soooo loved and very very well looked after
that's what you call obesity in the making. I guess these parents just don't realize the harm they are causing their kids.
For the two answers before mine:
How is teaching your child to be HEALTHY causing them to have low self esteem?? It really upset me to read your answers. And it saddens me that you don't care enough to make the effort to teach your child to take care of their bodies. Letting your children make some of their own decisions can be a good thing, but not when it involves risking their health!
I know I just can't believe it either! They are the sort of ignorant people that will be a dying bred! AS they are killing their offspring!
some parent will know whats best for their kids and what they like ?at home they will demand junk food and get it why you may ask PEACE and they pass this food so they get PEACE at home and really look at them same parents they are obese them selves and know body knows there kids like they do isn't that true ?
what is wrong with some schools whats wrong with chips. angry parent!
They are silly, they wont there kids to grow up fat and unhealthy, chips are fine, now and again, but if you can get your kids eating healthy when they are young, they grow up to be healthy adults, and you don't need to be a rocket scientists to work that one out, its common sense.
Quite honestly Chips are not a major problem when you think about our society. I send my kids to school with them all the time ! My kids are very healthy and Eat what is considered junk food very rarely, I don't feel my kids should be punished because some parents did not establish good eating habits from birth, My kids eat their Vegies first and prefer them over almost every other type of food, they eat asparagus, Artichokes, Green beand, Fruit on a daily basis, so why when they want a treat like chips or a candy bar should they be forced to abstain when they are well balanced and healthy? They were not raised on Mc Donalds and Burger King, But, now they have to pay for the families whos children were raised that way and became Fat? I don't think so. Eating right has to come from how children are raised Bull **** rules enforced at school will not change the eating habits of a kid who ate nothing but, junk growing up. I would like to know about the parents who no longer believe in disipline though those parents are the ones we should be looking at!
ok,fatty foods make you fat, smoking causes cancer, alcohol affects your liver, eating sweets is bad for your teeth, car fumes are bad for your health, too much salt is bad for you, coffee should only be drank in moderation,if you listen to all this nonsense, then you might as well not have a life, life is for living, enjoy it,go have a mcdonalds,is it because your eating salad and rabbit food all the time, that you are actually jealous of people eating food that you would like to eat.if you've got children who are normal weight why are u worrying,if they are fat thats your fault.dont blame everyone else.
If they want to give chips, once in a while, okay, but not on a regular basis.
We have a society that know very little about what they are doing to this world by encouraging obesity and poor health. Their idea of love is to give endlessly and therefore creating a lazy, weak and poor spoken youth community
A junk free menu has been introduced because the country is full of fat kids who won't get healthy meals when they get home. This country is living in a lazy, cotton wool culture where everyone expects everything to be done for them and everone else is too afraid to do the right thing as it may infringe on someone's "rights".
This is very true in terms of parenting. Modern parents very often take the easy way out of everything. This means giving their children anything they want for a quiet life. Of course parenting is hard! That is why I've tried very hard not to be one until I'm ready. It is through a wonderful thing called CONTRACEPTION.
If the parents of the said children took the same sense of responsibility with their own lives as I have, not only would half these parents not be parents but the other half would know how to raise children properly.
Sorry if I'm ranting a little. I'm a little hung over and this subject winds me up rotten anyway.
