My child is having problems in school with attention.he is five. need a doctor to help see what the problem is
his teacher said it might be his ears.can you help me ?

You can't expect a doctor on here to diagnose whats wrong with your son. He needs to be examined. Take him to see a Doctor.
take him to see your GP
take him to your gp it might just be a simple problem but its better to be on the safe side and dont worry
Make an appointment with an ear, nose & throat specalist as well as his regular doctor.
Did you ask him why he is having problems? You may find the answer with a few questions. In an inquiring type of way. Not so he feels like he is in trouble.
May be the child needs Vitamin B complex and other multivitamins.. you be surprised something small like this could do the trick.
I would consult a Dr. BUT and listen to me very carefully..DO NOT let them put him on pills to control his attention span. The reason I say this is because I was told that about my son in first grade. The teacher suggested that I put him on med. to control his attention problem..turned out that he was just really bored with school. Had him tested and from that point on he was put in the "gifted" program that our school offered. He graduated No. 1 in his class with a 4.0 grade average. His now a Jr. in College and still maintaining his 4.0 grade average. If you can handle him at home then they can at school. Sometimes I think that the teachers are looking for a quick fix for children rather than do their job. Which is teach.
Talk to your child's pediatrician.. Discuss in detail the troubles your son is having in school and your doctor will determine what medical tests your child might need. You may also want to request that the school test your child for learning disabilities. It is free screening, and he may qualify for a smaller classroom setting, which will help with distractions causing him to go off task and give him more one on one time with the teacher. Good Luck.

i am no expert but some kids they have attention problems cause they might be having a hearing problem or can't see the board etc.
when i was about 7-8 i had a hearing problem and would constantly turn the tv up and i had to get gromnets in my ears and now i can hear very well :)

2. the quacks will probably prescribe "Ritalin" which is a trade name for dexedrine - this is the the same drug they used to put in the rat-packs of usa servicemen in the Vietnam war - you can stay awake and coherent and strong and battle-worthy for about a week with no sleep or food. It was also used as a recreational drug in the eightes (when I was young and stupid enough to "try anything and everything")

see your gp, avoid ritalin, monitor his progress yourself, has he got a mild learnining disability .
If you can, please bring him to a specialist - a pediatrician. I learned that, with children, we can not always conclude from "the obvious". Some children often exhibit attention deficit symptoms at that age due to ADHD. It could be a host of other things a child is seldom able to express. It could also be near-sightedness (or myopia). Or just too much soda or sugar in his system. Before you go to the doctor, try to start a journal (if you don't already have one) on your child's diet, sleeping habits, moods, etc. This will help your physician very much. Dates like when you first noticed this behavior and some statements from his teachers may also provide some clues as to the real cause. Is there anyone in the family who may have had ADHD? Family history also plays a critical role. Do you observe any changes in your child's manner of talking or movement?

i had the same problem with my son hes the same age and he had glue ear we didnt know for a while cause there was no symptoms it has affected his speach his hearing and behaviour we are still trying to deal with his behaviour at the moment
my son ended up with grommits - with minimal improvement but the best thing was to cut chemicals and preservatives from his diet as recommended by my GP.
It might well be his ears, he may not hear well and so cannot listen in class, causing him to become bored, and seemingly lose interest and concentration, he might be very interested in what is going on but due to not hearing it he gives up!
He may also have A.d.d or adhd depending fif he appears hyperactive or not, your health visitor will tell u more anf the school will refer him to the correct organisations if this is the case.
