When should my daughter stop wearing nappies at night?
My daughter is 2 and a half and is potty trained but she still wears a nappy at night. It is wet on a morning but it is through sheer laziness that she wees in her nappy. Should I just stop using them?
Answers:
You should ensure that she stops wearing them before she has her first boyfriend for sure.. hope that helps
yeah but buy rubber sheets!
i had the same problem with my wee boy and he was really wet in the mornings, try not give anything to drink at night and for an hour before she goes to sleep, then if u lift her and set her on the toilet before u go to bed then she should go again withiout wakening! if she has a bottle or lots to drink before bed she will wet through the night
wait untill she gets married
no I dont think so. I have 4 boys (who can teach any girl a thing or two about laziness!) and I am a firm believer in doing these things when the child is ready. She will be dry all night soon enough and that will be when you should take the nappies away. 2 and a half is really very young anyway and if she prefers her sleep than getting up to use the loo, it shouldnt really cause anyone much bother at this age.
You could always offer her an incentive to keep her nappy dry all night - a small toy or trip out? If she is ready, this will be all she needs to give her the impetus.
Its only my opinion tho, as we all do these things in diff ways. There is no wrong and right way. Just what you and she are most comfortable with.
It is up to you.
I would keep them on her until she stops wetting.
Give a try to.....!
Ciao..John-John.
my daughter was dry in the day early in but wore nappies at night until she was 3. She'll do it when she is ready no point stressing and trying to force it.
Yes! Experimentation and change are good for both child and parent
when she stops wetting in the night, try taking her to the potty or toilet befor u go to sleep, i used to do it with my sons,..it empties there bladder,..and just make sure u have a waterproof mattress cover too,.good luck !
If you do that, then you will need to make sure you get up at least once to help her go potty, and that will teach her to go in the middle of the night
You should stop using them when she is able to wake up dry in the morning. When she is able to wake up dry that means her body is now trained to "hold it" which means she doesn't need diapers anymore.
Try putting her in training Nappy's the one that look like knickers. and tell her they are big girl knickers. Also try taking her to the toilet(potty) before she goes to bed and when you go to bed put her on her potty even if she is still asleep tell her to have a wee and she properly will. then put her back into bed. This is how my mum taught us and this is how i taught my daughter.
i also have a 2 and a half yr old but he's a boy, he's potty trained but has not yet learnt 2 wake up when needing the toilet so is still in nappies at night, i'm considering getting pyjama pants. i suggest u get her some "pyjama pants" like pull up nappies but dont say the word NAPPY, instead explain that they r special knickers that big girls use at night. as soon as she hears the nappy word she will use it as a nappy. or try shock tactics and leave any type of nappy off and let her wet herself, she should be upset or shocked by how it feels and all the changing of clothes business that she will want 2 use the toilet.
good luck
yeh why not, just get up a little earlier and take her toilet, she will learn really quickly, maybe in a week she will be dry at nite as well as in the day.Give it a try what you got to lose
Yes, stop using them, and let God help you raise your child for once.
When my son was dry during the day he stayed dry at night too but then again what I did with him was when I went up to bed. I would get him out of bed and sit him on the toilet and tell him gently to do a wee. 9 out of 10 times he would do a little wee while still sleeping then I would pop him back in bed then after a couple of weeks I started to leave him to sleep and that was that. But you are right, in my opinion anyway, she will wet when she has a nappy on because she can. As long as you don't mind a few wet beds to start with then go for it.
Good luck and little kisses for your angel. xxx
A lot of kids are still wet at night past the age of 4. Sometimes even later. Don't worry yet. A lot of advice says wait until you start getting dry nights, I did. However you should do what you feel comfortable with, as long as you don't put too much pressure on either of you.
shes not lazy she sonly little and cant control her bladder when asleep yet. Its good shes dry in day. Dont give any drinks 3 hours before bed. Maybe wake her so shes half asleep and stick her on loo about 10pm, if it wont wake her up fully! Try a sheet protector over mattress when you do leave nappy off at night. she will soon be dry at night girls are quicker than boys!
My first two were dry through the night within two and three days of being potty trained. My third had 2 dry nights so I left the mappy off last night and hey presto - a soaking child this morning! I'd leave it on until she is dry through the night. So long as she can be out of them by Nursery/school then don't worry. Try less fluids at night - you know yourself what it's like having a good drink before going to bed immediately. Chances are you'll be up too!
I don't advise waking them to take them in the middle of the night. I think this just trains them to want to wee in the night and the whole point is training them not to! I tried with my 1st son(to please mother in law even tho I disagreed with it but she's always right) and he fought me all the way and refused to even try(So I was right. Hurray!). Never tried again with the next and the 3rd can be the same. Would you like to be deliberately awoken from your dreams for that?I know I wouldn't!
Princess s - I have 3 boys and they have all been out their nappies faster than my nieces and most girls my friends have! That was a sweeping general statement - every child is an individual and has to be treated so.
Every child is different. She will do it when she's ready. You taking it away, will only make the process longer. Give her time, some kids wet the bed at 5 yrs old!!
i have a sister that is 3 and just stopped
ask her?
My daughter hated wearing a nappy for bed at night and I said if you use your potty I will leave your nappy off, she was 16 months old.
I left the potty at the side of her bed and put a waterproof sheet on the bed, she took to it straight away. Restricting fluids at bedtime is not such a good idea as she may become dehydrated through the night, also restricting fluids can cause urine and kidney infections and this can reduce her ability to control herself day or night.
So ask her, encourage her to go to the toilet before bed and leave the potty where she can use it throught the night, give her lots of encouragement and try not to be disappointed if it doesn't happen straight away.I am sure she will do well. If it doesn't work then chances are she isn't ready so suggest she goes on to trainer pants or something until she gets the hang of things, don't be tempted to go back to nappies.
Good luck
Well from personal experience I would say No, Not Yet. Both my children were potty trained and still wet their nappies at night. It is a long time to go without having to wee. We waited until their nappies were dry. The thing that helped with my daughter was putting knickers on OVER her nappy.
A friend of mine has done it differently and expected that her child would be ready as soon as potty trained, and consequently has had loads of stress changing beds and pyjamas in the night. Her son has ended up getting really stressed about it, crying and stuff in the night and she has been getting down about it (lack of sleep etc)
All children are different but they will do it in their own time. If she is only 2 there is LOADS of time to get her out of nappies at night, just let her dictate the pace, that avoids all the stresses, for her and for you.
Good luck with it.
doctors dont worry about bed wetting until the age of 9/10 so your little girl has a llong way to go yet. If you want to try fine but dont be cross if you have to get up several times a night to change her and the bed it wont be her fault. You say she is dry during the day, do you still have to ask her if she needs a wee do you still have the occassional accident ? If so I would leave her for now.
