she wants to know who there parents were?

In esscence she is asking what we all want to know - how did life come about first - although at the moment she is just trying to understand where humans came from?
You can give her the religious answer - god made us, or the honest one - we don't know!

At 8, she's probably old enough to understand that it's an allegory and that the word "Adam" means mankind and that the Garden of Eden refers to the hundreds of thousands of years when mankind were hunter gatherers.
How did she hear of Adam & Eve? If it was you telling the story, it should probably have starting with something like, God created the Earth, and then he created Adam, but it wasn't good for Adam to be alone, so he created Eve. Because God created them he would be their parent.

tell her that god made them - god is not their father, but he made them b'cos he is powerful and did it like magic. that will excite her imagination. also tell her that this is a story that is part of the main religions in the world - I don't know where u live, but in these tense times it would be nice if the youngsters grow up knowing how much we share with other people around us, and despite differences now (mainly due to politics) our histories are v similar. okay u don't have to phrase it quite like that. just tell her the story.!
