Why do underage girls who get pregnant get classed as 'news' rather than getting questioned by police?
Surely, not only is a 13 yo girl guilty of breaking the law - but whoever got her pregnant is also a pedophile. It seems to me that only men over the age of about 30 get classed as pedophiles - yet ANYONE who has sex with an underage girl should be put on the register. Or am I the only person who thinks this?

When both parties are underage that does not make the male a paedophile, a paedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to children (active paedophile is an adult having sex with a child), when the male is a child himself that would make him a sex offender in that it is statutory rape but the female also has a part to play.
They are not questioned by the police for the same reason that doctors immediately put girls on the pill from the age 10 upwards rather than providing information as well as options, for the same reason family planning clinics are now handing out emergency contraception at school gates and in fast food restaurant toilets (yes, in case you didn't know this already – that does seriously happen now).
For some reason teen pregnancy is now accepted, people seem to think that it is wrong to frown upon teenage pregnancy and so go the opposite way by accepting it with open arms – no, it isn't fair to blame the child because they are ignorant about risks and consequences, but it shouldn't go as far as accepting or even glorifying teenage pregnancy.
Simply it falls down to this – we need real sex education and parents who give a damn about their kids – if we had this teenage pregnancy and underage sex wouldn't be the problem it is now.

I am with you here. I do think it is a fine line for a 16 yr old male with a 14 yr old girl, though. Any younger than that is just stupid. When I had my son though there was a girl 12 that had a boy the same day as me..and the police did come when she gave birth to him.
If the girl and boy are both under 18, there isn't anything in the laws about it. I'm not saying it's right though.
To answer your question-if a 13 yr old slept with a 30 year old, consentually, the law holds the 30 yr old man as the responsible adult. He should have the morals not to have such a relationship with an underage girl.

I agree. Both parties, if underage need to be educated about the whole sex thing, and if one is above the age of consent then they have broken the law and must accept the consequences.
What happens to the 13 year old that has sex with the 13 year old? How do you classify in that case? Who is guilty?
And what about parents? Aren't they responsible for what their minor children do?
we actually have a problem here in Michigan (not sure if its just saint Clair county or the whole state)
with the new laws that a minor can be prosecuted as a adult and the sex offender registry, we have 14-17 year olds that are being prosecuted as an adult for having sex with a minor (another 14-17 year old) these poor kids are not only getting fines and probation but they are also barred for life from working with children or living by schools, and are made to register as a criminal sex offender, and put on the same list with the creepy old men that molest four year olds.
I'm not saying its good that our kids are having sex so early, I am saying that getting them into legal trouble is ruining there lives and this is a poor way of handling the situation

If a young girl falls pregnant then that itself is a punishment due to all the heartache and problems that lay ahead so i don't believe things should be made worse by the police be dragged in to scare the pants off the two involved. the police should be out there tackling real crime not telling off youngsters for letting their hormones getting the better of them. Its no good giving a 15 year old a conviction for under age sex when the girl agreed to have sex. what good will that do. It doesn't work as a deterrent. I know its not nice when we have these young girls falling pregnant cos its us tax payers who end up paying for them, but honestly that's life. we shouldn't be labelling them all paedophiles. open your mind a bit and stop being so narrow minded.
