Can my baby be normal? I had undergone two chest x-rays and taken mefenamic acid and amoxicillin.?
My last period was on the 14th of October and tested positive last Nov. 19. My x-rays were on Nov. 7 & 8. I had taken the mefenamic acid for recent frequent headache and didn't know i was pregnant. Now i'm scared that the baby will come out abnormal.

Have you talked to your GP. I would say that I don't think it will have caused any damage but you need a medical opinion !

Please don't worry. I work in operating theatres and am familiar with different drugs. Antibiotics won't do your baby any harm. Amoxycillin is one of the slightly nicer drugs to take. The Mefanamic acid won't do you any harm either. Its a type of non-steroidal which isn't harmful like opioid analgesics. Take a look on the BNF website. It lists all the drugs and any side effects.

I'd check with your doctor. Not too worried about the amoxicillin.they let me take that when I was trying to conceive and said it was safe. I don't know about the acid stuff.never heard of it. My doctor does not allow medication during the first trimester, but I'm not sure when you took it.the baby may not have even had a working placenta yet which means he/she got nothing!
I had an X-ray, but I was further along and they shielded my tummy. So you were like four or five weeks along? I would think your baby was too tiny to be impacted.
I think chances are your baby will be fine, but you need to check with your doctor.
Here's the thing too.I was all upset because I had pnuemonia and had to take medication (I took NOTHING with my son!).I used to be a foster care social worker and my husband reminded me of all my clients who did crack/herorin/ whatever else they could find, got no prenatal care, and were homeless. Many of these babies were fine.NOT THAT I ADVISE THAT..just saying....(and many were not in the beginning).sometimes we worry when we needn't.

The amount of radiation in the x-rays is very low and should not be enough to cause any damage, especially this early on(unless there were aimed directly at the uterus). Usually, any drugs you take prior to knowing that you are pregnant are not going to do much damage. Now that you know you are pregnant don't take any drugs without the prior approval of your doctor. PLEASE talk to your doctor about any drugs that you took prior to knowing just so they are aware of what was taken. They will most likely confirm that there is nothing to worry about. Don't take anything else until you talk to your doctor. If you are still having headaches you can take Tylenol(acetaminophen), there's no problems with that. aaawwhhh.been there and then some.my epilepsy medication ,i found out when i was four months gone that it can causes down syndrome and/or autism.then they found bad stuff on a scan.to be staight, i always knew he was fine.you will be fine but stress will not help.tell your midwife your concerns and try not to worry.i have a happy and healthy 4 year old and one other thing.DO NOT LISTEN TO HORROR STORIES.that brings stress on and maybe worse.hold the faith that your baby will be fine.he or she will be.happy parenting!!..and congrats btw
consult your midwife when you next see her.I went to drayton manner when a must of been about 2months pregnant with my daughter,i even went on Apocalypse! and thought something weren't right when i felt really dizzy and sick which iv never felt before,even after coming of a big dipper! a month later a found out i was pregnant.My daughters now 3 yrs old and %100 perfect.Its amazing how protected baby's are in the womb so don't worry yourself over it but do talk to your midwife x

Yes your baby can be normal. I know many of girls that have were taking pills and just doing everything wrong while carrying there babies, But there babies came out really healthy. You will be fine and so will your baby :-))

Express your concerns to your doctor and they'll monitor the pregnancy. With all your concerns your baby will be ok. I worked with monomer (acrylic liquid) my first 6 wks of pregnancy before I found out I was pregnant. My oldest is a normal, happy, unaffected 6 yr old. I was on 10mg x2 a day oxycontin for my medical problems with my youngest. He was ok through pregnancy and labor, delivery. He's a great 3 yr old. Just express your concerns with OBGYN who will monitor! That's what they're there for!!
