Couple of observations:
- There's a lot of folks here who's parents hot boxed their cars. Interesting. They're HERE. They're not hold up in an iron lung, or under 6 feet of soil. In otherwords, you phucking survived this horendous ordeal.
- Second, are going to then make happy meals, chicken nuggets, and pizza illegal for children? Candy? Chocolate? Obesity is the number one health concern, so why not?
- Thrid, yall sound like we need to wrap our kids up in Nerf and make sure they wear a helmet everywhere they go..'gotta protect the children'!
- Fourth, I'm a non-smoker myself, been so all my life, and raised in a house where parents smoked inside, and drove cars with the windows up and smoked. I hated it, but I'd have been even more traumetized if my parents would have been arrested for it.
- Fifth, I'm absolutely DISGUSTED that younger folks today so casually give up whatever freedoms are left to us.
++++I've changed my tune. Not only I'm going to advocate, immediatly that we do this, I'm also going to go on a quest to ban chicken nuggets and everything else that's fattening and full of unknown carcinegins to be marketed with cartoon characters. I'm going to include Happy Meals, and everything else like this. Also, every time I see a kid walking down the street w/o helmet and bullet proof vest, I'm going to yell and scream until the cops come to arrest these horrible horrible parents. We gotta protect the children!!+++++
I am not a smoker and hate being around them. However, if a parent wants to ruin his or her child's lungs that's their choice.
that would be nice, but they'd have to make it so you can't smoke in the house w/kids either. What I hate is people who smoke right outside of the entrance to stores. I feel like I'm going to get cancer if I go to walmart.
Yes my mum and dad used to smoke in the car when i was little and i hated it. it made me feel sick.

Yes. people should not be exposing their kids to second hand smoke. it is not fair to them and will cause damage to them short term as well as long term. just like it can do to the smoker, secondhand smoke can also cause lung cancer for children,

Not only does smoking ruin your own health, it ruins the health of innocent people around you. Smoking around children should be considered child abuse.
Yes. Both of my parents smoked like chimneys in the car and then wouldnt roll the window down even a crack.

Absolutely ! It is so unfair to light up in such a small confined space when children are in the car , my friend does it and it gets my back up ! She wonders why her little girl always has a cough & chest infections! Its downright selfish and as you can see i am on my high horse now !

I really think the thing has gone too far and it's really unproven that any actual harm occurs. This is mostly an undertaking of lilberals.
Yes there should be a law against it and anyone with children should by law have a policeman with them at all times to make sure they do and say nothing wrong or bad in front of children. Better still anyone who had any bad habits and cannot live a pure,clean and healthy lifestyle should not be allowed to have children.

Actually, I think they should make it that any adult cannot smoke anywhere near a child/teen. (10 feet distance at all times)
What would be better is just banning all cigarettes from every store in America.that's decrease the amount of smokers because I'm pretty sure that not all people would illegally buy them!
I think to turn it into a "law" is pushing things a bit. The ACLU would go insane start complaining about civil liberties. I am not a smoker (never have been) and personally find it abhorrent that a person would subject their child to such carcinogens. I understand an adult "has the right to smoke" if they want, but a child has no say and should not be exposed to it. I hate seeing young mothers smoke around their infants especially.
I think smoking around one's kids should much more heavily discouraged than it is. I don't think people really stop and think about it.

i dont smoke and dont like being aroung smokers whilst they are smoking but its your own car and you can smoke in you own car if you want
its your own kids and that is your choice what you do in your car

Yes as i am a non smoker , and my husband smokes in the car, and its so annoying for my 2 children, but he doesnt see it that way. I get that annoyed that i want to crush all his fags and through them out the window!!!.xxx

YES!!!!! my parents used to chain smoke in the car with the windows up when I was a kid! It made me sick! Not to mention now that we know how harmful second hand smoke is no one should smoke indoors near children!

If any parent was respectful enough to their OWN children they shouldn't smoke anywhere around them, espically in a closed car, I am a smoker and I wouldn't even think twice about doing that to my poor child!!

When the British government amended the Dangerous Dogs Act a man had his dog confiscated because it was loose in his car which was parked in a street and the dog was not restrained on a lead. The ruling was that a car was considered to be a public place. That being so, smoking in public places ban would include a car in the street or on the road.
