Christening dilemma?

Im getting my daughter christened in october and everything is arranged but one thing keeps puzzling me for the reception after it, we have hired a club, there will be drink and food etc but should i get a dj a lot of people have said u dnt get a dj because it a christening but im not sure, what u think?

Answers:
you are not suppose to get a dj, but at my daughters christening, we did the same has you, hired a room, food and drink and i felt we needed a dj. it was too quiet even though people are chatting it still felt has though we needed something else, if you want one get one if it makes you feel happy, its upto you not other people, enjoy your daughters christening!
No - its not like a major party it is for family to mingle they can hardly do that with loud music pumping out.
I wouldn't think so. I think that's a bit much.
get a dj
A club? With alcohol?

Dude. NO.

Just don't. Have a simple party. Not a club and a DJ. How un.. CHrist-like, know what i mean?
My sister didn't. Can they not play some subtle music over the club system?
Don't get a DJ, That seems a little ridiculous and over the top. I doubt anyone will want to dance at a christening party. Why add an expense when clearly most people you've talked to (that I assume will be there) don't want a DJ.
I dont get it ,
a christening is a christian affair so,
why is the reception at a CLUB with DRINKS and a
DJ..unless he is playing christian music ( which I doubt it)..

dude, just have a simple reception at your home or a hall and maybe toasts and thats it.
just invite them all home for a cuppa..unless you've invited so many people you cant get them all in
Go with Boo..... it is just a family get-together.... someone will probably start singing, if as I guess, there will be some Irish there.... probably end up a great time - known as wetting the baby's head... the drinking, not the Christening. God bless, have a wonderful day......
I have christened 2 children & have never heard of getting a DJ - - I don't think the baby will be ready to boogie-down as of yet.. mayber for his communion or confirmation! Anyway, it's a holy sacrament & a time for family & friends to gather & welcome your little one into not only their family, but Gods family. Enjoy time together, maybe a little background music on the old sound system would work. Congratulations!
Hmm..Loud music possibly damaging the hearing of your young child..or people wanting to party-big decision!

Tell them to go to the Pub afterwards and do Karaoke! *L*

What about just a CD player with soft music playing to avoid the deafening quietness?

YOU do what you want to do. Not what others think you should do!
I've never heard of a DJ at a Christening - but a short time ago I'd never heard of a 'Baby Namimg' as an alternative to a Christening.

You know your family and friends, you know what they like and you know what you want - if you think a DJ is appropriate for YOUR celebration the you go for it girl - you could start a whole new trend!
Get a DJ get p****d but dont forget the baby when you go home
this is a christening not a party.i would make the day as peaceful as possible and i wouldn't hire a dj and wouldn't play party music.maybe some gospel music and christian music to celebrate the surrending of your child to Gods hands. just a thought, if your family has a tradition of celebration than go for it. i just woukd like my christening to reflect the meaning of the day.
No. A DJ is not appropriate to a christening get your guests to sing and save a DVD for the baby to see when she is older
Its a baby. Do you really think it'll care? If you must, use a cd player. I would have saved all that money for a college fund myself.
you shoudnt have a dj at a christening i never did at my childrens .
i think you should get a dj afterall it is a celibration.
I say no.
No DJ - its a family occaision not a teenage get together - have respect for the meaning of the day - it is enter your child into gods life & not for everyone to get pist & dance all night
It's a christening, no DJ needed. How much money are they expecting you to spend?
A christening is more like a social gathering after the service no need for a DJ just a little bit of music in the back ground would be nice
Why don't you get a live band instead? It has more of a family appeal than a DJ. I say why not! Do what you want to do, not what everyone else wants. Good luck and congrats!
I have been to alot of christenings and never seen a DJ at any of them, so id say no. x
I think i would be horrified to go to a christening followed by a disco! It's a religious occasion not an excuse for a knees up! It's just not etiquette.
U will be time enough hiring a DJ when your child gets married!
I think you should keep it low key-close family and friends only. After all where theres food and drink theres bound to be smokers, not a good combination around babies.
It may be a better idea to cancel the club and have it in your own house, or a relatives house.
Good luck.
we had rooms for both ours but didn't get djs because my feeling was that it would be too loud for the baby
