Does anyone know if goverment employees get 9 months FULL paid maternity leave in april 2007 instead of 6?

Answers:
Yes if your baby is due on or born after the specified date in April. Sadly it won't just be extended. Dunno about full pay, that is often at the discretion of the department you work for, eg: I work for NHS and am just started ML and will get 8 wks full pay and the rest of the 6 months will be half pay and SMP.
I'm surprised to hear they even give you 6 months! Most places give you a few weeks, and now my tax money is paying for you to have possibly 9 months off FULLY PAID! This needs to stop.
yes you do
No I think it means you get 9months off, on statutory maternity pay. It's your employee's descresion whether they make it up to your full pay.
I have answered this and not read the question properly, you say government employee's. That I dont know, I was just answering about the general public.
I'm a Government employee and you get the same rights as anyone else; you can apply for a further 6 months but it's UNPAID!! Our salaries are crap too, so there's no real benefits gained.
no one gets fully paid maternity leave unless it's in your work contract. you get 6 weeks od 90% pay then the basic £106 per week. they are thinking of extending the paid leave from six to nine months next year but i'm not 100% sure when. that's what the government pays you. anything past that is paid for by your employer.but you will still be entitled to thing like a company car if you already have one ect.
all people get 9 months from april next year so i thought
I work in government and will only be getting 6 (17/09/2006)
