It takes me about 5 hours from Plymouth to Manchester. Depends on what route you go, how many stops and your speed. Personally, I'd recomend A38, M5, then M42, M6 toll road, and A34 which runs parellel to the M6 but avoids Sandbach which is always congested, then onto the M60 then M66 into Bury. Hope it helps.
