Why are wind turbines (wind farms) white? Couldn't they be painted to blend in with countryside?
Answers:
a white coating reflects the sunlight and reduces thermoelastic effects that could jeopardize the balance and induce unwanted stress.
Could it be they are white for exactly that reason? So that small planes or birds can see them? Only a guess though.
So that low flying aircraft could distinguish these wind turbines and avoid them.
that might be a bad idea. as of right now one problem with wind turbines is that birds fly into them and have a chance of getting killed. by painting them green the birds would be even less likely to avoid them. and personally, i don't consider green turbines to look better than the white ones.
because they want to show off the money they spent
I am not an expert, but there may be a couple of reasons.
First, no one has thought about it and the paint that meets the needed specifications of durability happens to be white.
Second, they want them to be easily visible so someone can easily see if they are not working properly from a long distance.
They could be painted to blend in but they'd wind up killing more birds. Better to have them highly visible.
no i was only following orders
white is cheap
They are white so that they blend in with the sky. As these things stand 100m + tall, you can't really blend them in with the country side.
thay should be green stem wi blue sails i was thinking about this the other day it makes sence to me mby its just white paint is cheeper gready c@@ts
I think they're pretty!
u have to paint them white as they reflect in the dark and u have to allow for low flying aircraft, choppers
