Could you help me to solve this equation 4r-r / 4 =15 if you could also show your working and give me explan?
Could you help me to solve this equation
4r-r / 4 =15
If you could show me your working out in step's and give me an explanation at each step that would be really helpful
Answers:
4r - r/4 = 15
Multiply everything by 4
4(4r) - 4(r/4) = 4(15)
16r - r = 60
Combine like terms
15r = 60
Divide both sides by 15
r = 60/15
Simplify
r = 4
If this is your homework, please work it out yourself!!
(4r-r)/4=15
Multiply both sides by 4
4r-r=60
Combine 4r and r
3r=60
Divide both sides by 3
r=20
4r-r/4=15
3r/4=15
3r=15*4
3r=60
r=60/3
r=20
should really do ur homework urself though
i'll edit this post to explain as some people are getting answers other than r=20.
remember the term 'bodmas' which means Bracket, Outside, Division, Multiplication, Add, Subtract.
Always do equations using this formula in the order of 'bodmas'.
so 4r-r/4=15 is re-written to take into account the seperate 'sums' like so. (4r-r)/4=15, the first 'sum is 4xr-r (not (4r)-(r/4)) all equations are written with this in mind, so (4r-r) is 3r, so now we have 3r/4=15 o we know that 3 multiplyed by r then divided by 4 is equal to 15, so we move on to the next 'sum' in the 'bodmas' formula which is divide, we know that the 15 has to be multiplyed by 4 because the equation is telling us that the answer is divided by 4, so when we 'move' a figure from one sode of the equals symbol to the other side, it becomes the opposite of what it was, therefore divided by 4 is now multiplied by4 like this 3r=15 x 4.so 3r=60. the sum now is 3 multiplied by 'r' is equal to 60, to find out the answer, we move the 3 over to the other side of the equal sign, it now becomes opposite of what it was so, r=60/3 the answer being 20...as with every equation, check your answer is correct like this, you suspect r=20, so re-write the equation (4 x 20) (- 20) / 4 = 15 and you'll know if your workings out are correct.
4r-r/4=15
multiply by 4 on each side
4r-r=60
substract the variables
3r=60
divide by 3 on each side
r=20
4r-r / 4 = 15 <---first you can simplify the 4r-r
3r / 4 = 15
(3r / 4 = 15) 4 <--multiply by 4
3r = 60 <----then divide by 3
r = 20
Hope that helps! And what grade are you in?
i can help you out but first i need to know where the parenthesis go in this problem.
is it (4r-r) / 4 = 15 or 4r - (r/4) = 15?
i am presuming the problem is
4r-(r/4)=15
multiplying by 4
16r-r=60
15r=60
dividing by 15
r=4
Sure lets just do all the kids homework for them so we raise more ignorant people!
Real nice people!
No! do your homework yourself! a cheater never wins!! lol
Try "r" as 20.
Go backwards . if you have to divide the left side by 4, then the right side has to have been also divided by 4. To get rid of the /4 on the left, the opposite is multiplying by 4, so that means 15x4=60.
If 4r-r = 3r, then multiplying r by 3 is 60, r should be 20.
You should have paid attention in class! Do your own homework!
helen if i were you i would forget the maths and work on you english your spelling could do with improvement
stop cheating!!!!!!!
4r-r / 4 = 15
Im not sure how much detail you'd like so i'll just explain it all ;)
two things about algebra:
1) you are always looking for the value of the letter given in the equasion.
2) you generally have to work backwards. The equasion says:
(4xr) (-r) (/4.) is equal to 15
it helps to split the equation up like this to better make sense of it.
Start with the answer of 15. Then the next part of the equasion (/4). If r divided by 4 is 15 then (working backwards again) we have to multiply:
15x4
= 60
(4 lots of r) (minus 1 lot of r) is equal to 60.
or:
(4xr) (-r) = 60
or
3xr = 60
now all you have to do is divide 60 by the 3 to find the value of r
60
/3r
=20
r=20
I hope this helps :)

you can ask anything here, makes me wonder why i didnt use this in my school days. Anyway, now that i am a graduate, trust me - you want to do this yourself if not you want to learn what the equation symbolises. If you dont understand what the equation means then get assistance if necessary but dont get the answer point out.
OTHERWISE YOU'LL NEVER LEARN
4r-(r/4)=15
4x[4r-(r/4)]=4x15
16r-r=60
15r=60
r=4
have fun.. good luck!
4r - r / 4 =15
---- as there are no brackets, r/4 must be carried out first
4r - r/4 = 15
3 3/4 r = 15
15r/4 = 15
15r = 60
r = 4
this question could mean two things because of the lack of brackets for guidance
1)4r-(r/4)=15
multiply equation by 4,we have
16r-r =60 giving 15r=60 >>>> r=60/15=4
2)(4r-r)/4 =15
multiply equation by 4,we have
4r-r=60 giving 3r=60 >>> r=60/3=20
so,there we have two answers to the question due to lack of clarity (in this case brackets in the right place)
i hope this helps
