How does atomic bomb work?

Answers:
In a fission bomb, shaped explosives force a weapons-grade plutonium core to undergo fission.

An a fusion (hydrogen) bomb, the energy comes from the fusion of hydrogen atoms into helium, and is much more powerful that fission bombs.

they are rather messy.

there are two types of fission devices.

ASSEMBLY, where two sub-critical masses are brought together quickly. this is the GUN-type bomb, which can only be made from U-235

Compression. A mass of Plutonium (i am not sure plutonium still works since pluto is no longer a planet) that is non-critical is compressed until it becomes critical. This is called the IMPLOSION type bomb. It is impossible to assemble plutonium fast enough in a gun type gadget without the parts blowing apart before a true reaction can take place.

The making of explosive lenses to focus the power of conventional explosive to neatly compress the plutonium is the key secret to A-bombs.

Modern atomic weapons use a plutonium device in the center to heat heavy hydrogen to very high temperatures (to strip away the electrons so the neucleii can merge), at which time it will FUSE. This is what powers the sun and other stars.

Many experiments are being done to produce fusion energy in a slow manner, the idea of COLD FUSION, using nanoparticle engines to peel away the electrons of deutrium will reduce the danger and cost of obtaining energy.

This secret has been known worldwide for many years, this is why the only way to prevent rogue nations from getting a nuke is to prevent the opertation of breeder reactors which produce plutonium.
You shouldn't ask that on line! Anyone who knows would be in trouble for telling you!
Really, really good! I think that it's time for us to drop a couple more!
First you elect a raving psychotic leader and allow him access to "the button".... oh wait, too late, that's been done already...
it goes 'bang'.
then 'whoooosh'.
all the people near it would go 'ooowww'.
and then be silenced forever.

they look quite pretty from a distance.
A terrible reaction occurs when certain things happen and creates one hell of an explosion. That's all most of us including you need to know. If you go to a library the scientific information is there as far as the basics go. Don't ask questions that should not be here in this public forum. There are too many bad people out there.
terrible questain to ask
An atomic bomb works by initiating a nuclear chain reaction, which releases a huge amount of energy relative to conventional explosives. Per unit volume, an atom bomb may be millions or billions of times more powerful than TNT.

Nuclear reactions occur when neutrons are fired at closely packed atoms with heavy nuclei (uranium or plutonium isotopes). These heavy nuclei break apart into lighter nuclei when hit by a neutron, in turn generating more neutrons which bombard other nuclei, creating a chain reaction. This process is known as fission.

In the earliest bombs, the chain reaction was initiated simply by firing two half-spheres of high purity uranium isotope at one another in a small chamber. In updated designs, a uranium or plutonium bomb core is surrounded by high-explosive lenses designed to compress the core upon detonation. The compressed core goes critical, initiating a chain reaction.
Get some atoms, generate nuclear fision and a chain reaction with a big bang.
gee people. the question is "how does an atomic bomb work?", not "how do you make a homemade atomic bomb?"

basically i think they get a certain radioactive element and something is used to get that element to start breaking apart. once it starts, it goes faster and faster at a faster and faster rate and yeah, heat is release from every atom that breaks. so that's a lot of heat yo.

that's pretty much it in a nutshell
