How long does it take for a maggot to complete it's metamorphosis?

into a bluebottle. My cat brought a dead mouse into the house and it was covered in maggots. Oh Uck! I am curious to know about the maggots. Not that I intended keeping them..they are now long gone.

Wow! I was just thinking of asking the same question! I was mesmerised by the rotted seeds on my bird-feeder and how they were swarming with maggots and wondering how long ..
Thanks for asking!
If I find out soon, I'll add to this, but it does depend on the weather .
