Paul,how do you know that space is finite in mathematical terms?

far, far, far
I'm not Paul, but we know that space is finite due to curvature. Think about it for a minute and it will make perfect sense.
space is infinite, therefore
infinite=infinite
therefore
infinite/infinite=1
1 is a finite number , therefore mathematically we can prove that space is finite
The observed red-shifted electromagnetic radiation proves that the universe is currently expanding, therefore it cannot have an infinite size. At any given moment it is bigger than it was immediately before that moment.
Because no boundry can be found, theorised or measured.
This is not as complicated as it sounds. The universe started from a single point at the beginning of the big bang. Since then it has been expanding. As the universe has been expanding at a finite speed, then its volume must be finite.

The total amount of space that exists might be more if you count other universes. The question is, what do you call the thing which contains all the different universes in it, how many does it contain, and how many of them are there?

To David T: The boundary of the universe has been theorized and measured. Due to the fact that the universe is hyperspherical in shape, some very bright objects such as pulsars can be seen in two opposite directions by earth observers.

It is hard to "find" the boundary, as if you travel in any direction for long enough in the universe, you will end up where you started. The "edge" of the universe cannot be found in the 3 dimensions we are familiar with. Imagine walking around on the earth, trying to find the edge. You would be walking for a long time. The universe is the similar, but with an extra dimension added.
space is finite? damn that just messes shhht up. i say it's infinite. i got theories but i gotta get em published and make money, cant be having ppl think on me for free u know.
