The difference between the 3 variables in science?

I get confused over this - what's the difference between an independant variable, a dependant variable and a control variable? I know that one is the thing you measure, and one is the thing you change, and one is what you keep the same, but which is which.?!

An example: Boyle's law: pV = constant
You choose the volume V (the independent variable)
When you change the volume, the pressure p changes by it: the dependent variable.
pV = constant is only true for constant T, so now the temperature must be the controlled variable; it must be constant.

Independent: you control/change
Dependent: measured (i.e., depends on whatever the independent variable is)
Control: held constant
independent variable is what you can change
dependent is what changes because of the independent variable
Controlled is anything which stays the same, this can be 1- invinty

However Independent and Depenednt only have on each and depend on what you are trying to find out.
independent variable is something that you manipulate
dependent is something changes as you changes something
and control is where you are basing the result of something to.
