How long does an average garden ant live?

Answers:
Ants live for only about two months, except for the fertile females who live for nearly a full year. Ants usually hatch in late spring. The workers exist only to sustain the colony, and they die in the late summer. The fertile females, or queens, though, hatch at the same time but survive until winter when they hibernate, and then emerge in the spring to lay the eggs from which the next year's ants will hatch.
Hi. About 8 weeks.
Until you step on it!
Only as long as it takes me to kill it.
depends how long the magnifying glass has been above it
Ant, queen 3 years
Ant, worker 0.5 years
that depends when you walk on it
How long do they live?
Ants live for about two months, but in good conditions a nest can last for years. Garden ants mate in flight when winged males and females swarm between mid July and mid September.

After mating the male dies and the female loses her wings and buries herself in the soil over winter. In late spring the female lays eggs which hatch into white larvae in 3 - 4 weeks.

The larvae are fed by the queen and when fully grown pupate. The worker ants which emerge from the pupae feed new larvae and the queen
Depends on the species, caste, and luck.
I'd guesstimate that for red ants (California Harvester ants, you know, the kind that go into an Uncle Milton Ant Farm), the queens can live 4-5 years. The workers can live two years, but most won't make it even to 1 year old.
