What advancments in science can I reasonably expect to see in my lifetime assuming I live until 80. Im 28 now?

Answers:
I think and I sure hope u will live to see the cure for cancer.
Faster computers, shuttle mission to mars.
If the religious right and the anti-science neo-cons continue in the ascendancy, not much! Expect to see biblical literalism replace science in schools and colleges, and the death of the enlightenment!
i think we wud have controlled gravity by then.
Probably a new theory of gravity.
My fear is that a third world war will ravage the globe within a decade. It'll be fuelled by religious intolerance and millions will die.

After that though, the world will be a better place with more housing and more jobs for everyone.

Oh - and robots to do the washing up!

And flying cars

etc
If you expect Star Wars technology, forget it. The limits imposed by Einstein's theories forbid it. Technologies mature and any new technologies thay will be developed in the future will still be bound by the physical laws that we know today.
probably just faster computers and cell phone sized computers that are faster than the computers we have today. Other than that nothing new.

*Cars still drive on the ground and not fly in the air.
*The air will be a little bit dirtier.
*There will still be wars.
*Maybe the U.S. will finally have 3 strong political parties instead of 2.
*Adobe Photoshop 50 will be out. It will do everything photoshop CS2 does now, but it will have 2 new features that I can't talk about.
*Linux will become mainstream.
*HDTV will still not be the standard.
*Xbox 10 and PS12 will be out with photorealistic graphics
*Nintendo will have had over 100 games with Super Mario in them
*More pointless diseases and disfunctions will be cured, like premature ejaculation and genital warts
*When people refer to the 50's it won't be the 1950's anymore
*Vegan fast food chains are everywhere
*200lbs will no longer be considered fat, instead its 300lbs
*Days of Our Lives will still have the same story line
*Nirvana does a reunion tour after they raise Kurt from the dead using his DNA
There is renewed interest in the moon so I think humans will be mining, and possibly colonising, it.
I dont know.sorry!
Im dying to see a cure for cancer.
Probably not the ones you're expecting. Back in 1969 (I was 17) Imperial College of London did a similar crystal ball exercise; among the predictions I can recall:

Widespread use of "Maglev" trains eliminating cars by the 1980s;
Manned Mars landing by the mid-80s;
Commercial nuclear fusion by about 1985;
Direct interaction between brain and computer (real artificial intelligence like HAL9000 in "2001 A Space Oddessy") by around 2000;
Control of gravity by 2020.

Well, they were wrong on all but the last, which isn't due yet, but I suggest you don't bet your house on it!
On the other hand, Luekaemia back then was an almost guaranteed death sentence, and only two heart transplants had been carried out.
