Have you ever seen a squirrel somersault?
I was watching the young squirrels playing outside my office and noticed once of them repeatedly doing full forward somersaults. Is this a uniquelly talented squirrel or a pretty common trick?
Answers:
It's fairly common, but still odd to see
No, but I have seen a Swiss Roll and a Kitchen Sink!
yes thanks
We have tons of squirrels on our property, but I've never seen one do that. The other day I saw one jump from high branch to branch in a tree, and he almost missed (but he made it).
No this is a pretty common trick they can ride bikes too!
Only once and I had just accidently ran over in it with my car.still feel bad
only once, when i kicked it up the @rse.......
yes when i shot it
I've had one land on my bonnet whilst I was driving and stare at me. I've seen several fall out of trees and run away 'embarrassed' and yes, I have seen them do all kinds of acrobatic stunts. I think that they are all a little mad.
Apparently they are also supposed to be quite tasty, though I've not yet tried one.
No. now that's a trick.
No.
I'm not sure if this is common but I have squirrels in the garden that look as if they are using a branch to do full body twists.
yes many times. they almost always do when hit with a twenty two bullet. afterwards they taste very good fried. no joke here.this is the real world i,m talking about.
Yes this is perfectly common to young squirrels as this is the equivelant of them playing on a swing set or trampoline when you are growing up. One day observing this behavior with squirrels I realized its a type of play activity that they do when they are very young. Playing is a learned behavior and excercise that allows most young mammals to learn how to coordinate thier bodies. You may remember seeing kittens and dogs doing this both in homes and in the wild. Its very cute and showing off seems also to be a part of it. We see it as cute but it serves to help them to learn the limitations of their bodies. Humans are no exception to this learning process.
